I added two missed layups to give the bbs more look at his ball handling for your review, and slipped in one fastbreak from China.

Oh, and three nice assists by Capela!

My takeaway from these highlights is Dekker's moving well in the offense and teammates look for him, plus he has confidence to drive. btw: these are all of him playing the 4.

I was wondering who the back up 4 to Ryno was. I presumed that Ariza would get a bit of burn there. Maybe they see Dekker as that guy.

I've been impressed with Capela's passing. Nothing spectacular, but he's made some very nice touch passes on the move to avoid charges. It seems like he isn't as quick off the ground and eager to throw it down as he was his first few months with the Rockets. He would try and dunk EVERYTHING at first. I'm sure it's partially an endurance issue with the added weight.

If he can fix that free throw shot and maybe get a few decent go to moves, he should be more than enough to fill the center role. Loving NeNe. Doesn't have near the athleticism as he did with Denver (I wanted him so badly when he went to Wash), but he's making the right plays and playing solid D.

Glad my dad doesn't watch preseason because seeing someone throw a bounce pass into a crowded lane would have given him a heart attack.

Definitely a good motion guy, seems to have a good feel for the game, and Dantoni's system.

I think he cracks the rotation.

Clearly a better fit at the 4 than the wing, both offensively and defensively. Needs to rebound.

    Cedric Ceballos?

Moving off the ball, reverse layups, some dunks and threes mixed in

Reminds me of that bum that was sitting on the grizz bench. Glad he threw down that reverse alley on that side of the court. Just wished he wouldve ran by and stared down the grizz bench and that bum.

Dekker can be what Cxbby wanted Marcus Morris to be. Its really too early to figure out what niche Dek can carve out. I think he could end up a 3 or a 4. Those positions are pretty similar and it might boil down to who is playing next to him and what style the rox play.

Can't be sure if he's good or not yet, but at the very least he's earned some minutes off the bench this season. Hopefully he's a keeper.

Morris has turned himself into a decent player.

I love the way he cuts and makes himself available.

liking what i'm seeing from dekker.. definitely a very smooth player, one which we haven't had outside harden in sometime.

love watching guys that just make it look easy. rockets the last few years have had very few of these. (think of ariza, bev, dwight, jones etc )

I've said before during summer league and I'll say it again...he's a better athlete than people are giving him credit for. He's a little unassuming but when you really look at him he's built pretty solid and moves very fluidly. I've also compared him to Arian Foster in that regard. Foster's body control and instincts made up for lack of foot speed. I see that same sort of graceful movement skill, just no wasted energy.

DMo, especially his rookie year was a complete opposite, just frenetic bursts of hyper activity. All over the place. Dekker is very in control of himself. He fits perfectly the tweener forward mold too, not really big enough to be a 4 but more athletic than 3s.

I think there is a place for him in SOME games, SOME situations. He can be a guy who can answer matchups or cause other teams to answer to him. He can be a bench player that will score and push leads further. What he isn't, IMO, is a regular rotation guy or a defensive stopper.

Dekker's strengths clearly lie at the 4. I'm no sure who started the rumor that he was better as a 3 (there's a lot of very loud, very wrong people here)

He's too slow to guard 3's now, and he won't be getting faster. He's tall enough to guard the stretch 4's of the league without giving up too much on close outs.

Further more, if there were 2 slower players on the court, we'd be sacrificing his biggest strength. That is, making plays off the catch. Strong one dribble moves. He can get past 4's, but is definitely too slow to get past the arizas of the league.

Dekker is gaining confidence. Backup 3 sans defense. I was pleasantly surprised with the Alley-oop from him.

Definitely like him as the stretch 4. Runs well. Cuts well. Knows where to be. Excited about him and KJ this year.

He has the style that needs in game experience to harness. I still think it will be another season before he really starts getting good minutes and shaping up into something nice.

If it were McHale or JB, I'd agree about another year. With MDA I think both KJ and Dekker step up.
