I LOVED those pee-pee games. UT was all - WE'RE (half the Big 12, including TAMU/OU) going to the Pac 12, nah, WE'RE going to the Big 10, all the while TAMU wasn't saying ****, just packing it's bags and actually doing something FUN.

I'm not speculating or making **** up, Sammy. The guy is in the know and has been for a long, long time. I just lost touch with him when I quit kiddie Facebook years ago. Is it going to happen soon? *Not Likely.gif*l, but there has been talk. For all of the so called "perks" neither OU or Texas feel satisfied with the future of the BIG 12. There also has been zero talk about Texas going independent. It's never even been discussed for all of those who want that on the internet.

Also, just like everyone on the internet, pretty much the entire Prez club of the BIG 12 all think Boren is a douche who loves to hear himself speak. Not a likeable character.

FWIW, the big donors often talk a lot of nonsense and think they know more or are more powerful than they are. They were the "Saban is a Longhorn!" people. They were the "UT is going to the Pac10!" people, etc. They have a tendency to believe what they want to believe and then convince themselves it's fact. They are wrong as often as everyone else.

Very, very true and I know a few like this whom I basically try to avoid in real life, but I never heard any Saban talk from this guy ever, he just rolled his eyes at that when the conversation came up and it was pretty much dropped. The only info I'd ever heard from him when we'd see each other was about Mack being pushed out, the lack of hard recruiting like in the early 2000's and the struggles within the athletic dept and coaching disagreements which all turned out to be true.

Anyways, back to what a joke the BIG 12 is conversation.

Don't think even Red has the type of pull he thinks or what most think he has. The BMDs that actually do are probably a fraction of the ones that honestly believe they do.

With that said, I'd love a move to the Big 10.

    Posts like this are righteous.

"We deserve to be in the BIG 12. Let us in! Don't be scared!!!"

"We didn't want in that crappy conference anyways. Worst conference in football."

Make up your friggin' minds. This makes you look foolish.

LHF is right. We need to have logical consistency in our whining and pandering.

UH's new official stance on Big 12 expansion: We deserve to be in your crappy conference. We'd much rather go elsewhere, but let us in anyway! Don't be scared because you are the worst conference in football!

That'd be really interesting to know who the big boosters are and how much influence they have on big time sports schools. Are there any documentaries like 30 for 30 that show how all that works? Is there a way to see how much boosters give to a schools athletic department versus TV money etc?

Not that I know of but that could be really interesting. Never saw it, but sure the 30 for 30 on Maurice Clarett went into it a little bit.

They do publish the amount of athletic donations in a given year but have rarely seen who or how much, unless it's a record setting donation like Fertitta to UH a few months back.

Iowa State AD confirming what I briefly have said. Texas and OU didn't like any of the candidates for one reason or another and that expansion will happen when and if it makes sense and adds real value to the conference and the current Big 12 members. Until then, 10 it is and it looks like that could help with the next deal. Diluting the conference even more with average teams (outside of UH) hurts more than it helps. Rutgers is proof of that

    LOL...

    http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...ted-decision-decline-expansion-earlier-divide

Memo tells Big 12 officials to say decision to decline expansion was unanimous

Even though the Big 12 announced that its decision not to expand was unanimous, sources told ESPN on Tuesday there were schools that ultimately agreed to go along with the plan when it became obvious the conference would not reach the supermajority needed to expand.

In a 714-word league memo covering the league's talking points, obtained by ESPN, the first two items instructed officials to "Indicate the Board arrived at a "Unanimous Consensus" and say "the Board was unanimous in its desire and commitment to stay at 10 members."

The internal Big 12 memo also suggested conference officials not "indicate that TV influenced [its] decision" and that the Big 12 was not "psychologically disadvantaged" because it didn't expand.
