They should have sent him to school with a "homemade clock" that looks similar to a bomb, they could have met the president on the way to making propaganda videos back in whatever backwards country they leave to.

 

Interesting take. So a Muslim father sees his kids and family being threatened by Trumpy's like your buddies there and decides to go to Pakistan - a U.S. Ally - to wait out the end of the election and you and bobby etall say the story must be a lie.

This story does sound extreme or suspicious, there are tons of Pakistani people in America.
Does his kid have any friends? start up a gang so they can watch each other backs. Find some other minority friends so they can fight back.

This father, if he was being honest, could have move his family to Houston which has a huge Pakistani population. So does DC, Chicago, LA, and NY. Much closer and safer options than Pakistan LOL!!

 

Agree on the bs. Don't really doubt the kid got beat up (who knows, but stuff like that happens), but moving to Pakistan is a terribly irrational response. Was I supposed to read this and think 'oh that Trump is so mean that people are moving back to Pakistan of all places'? Because that's not what I'm thinking.

Wow so many people in here calling bs on this without even knowing the whole story, crappy article covering this by the way. No surprise there. There were multiple events that influenced their decision. The man I believe has a PhD he's obviously not likely to be an irrational person. According to the video, the father has 2 Fullbrights and works on anti-terrorist software to model terrorist bombings and defend against them. OK, so this guy is an ******* compared to us Clutchfans posters, right? And he figures that taking his son to live in Pakistan, where the son has never lived--he grew up in Florida--is better than having his son grow up in Florida. If you believe this video, the double Fullbright guy thinks moving his American son to Pakistan is better than making him grow up in Florida.

 

Didn't say he was moving just that he was leaving until after the election.

Also don't underestimate how powerful harassment can be. My uncle and aunt left their home of 30-some years because they were tired of the escalating harassment they were getting as the only minority in a white neighborhood. It really lowers the quality of life and is scary when someone is slashing your tires and painting swastikas on your sidewalk.

Yes this happens - more frequently than the alt-right apologists on this board will admit. I laugh when people say racism doesn't exist. I guess they see it as just practicing their free speech.

 

Sigh... This topic has been brought up multiple times in this one thread and people just decide to ignore it. There is a certain threshold of wealth, were living in Pakistan is more 'comfortable' and 'safe' than living in the States and that has to do primarily with the ridiculous income gap in countries like Pakistan/India/Bangladesh where labor is so cheap a professionally skilled worker (what would constitute upper-middle class in the States) can afford a full fleet of servants, full-time drivers and a gated community. I'm not saying it's a good thing. The income disparity there is pretty disgusting but this father isn't being 'irrational' moving to Pakistan.

That doesn't mean that this whole ordeal can't be staged and the father is trying to score political points. That may very well be .

 

No one is saying that racism doesn't exist. We are only saying that it doesn't exists across the entire United States in every city and every community. That's a huge overreaction. So your uncle and aunt moved to another country because of their awful neighborhood?

 

I don't think I would describe it as "safe". Maybe more "comfortable" sure. But IMO the level of freedom you are giving up is definitely not worth it. I was born in Mumbai, India and have been to Pakistan a few times. Have family in both places as well. The loaded ones in Pakistan have to have security due to constant threat of kidnappings. Sometimes two guys cant go to a movie, no places to go hangout and chill. Though I doubt this Muslim family's idea of fun is as same as mine.

 

Depends on the Clutchfans posters, if it was the 99ers, then they are the greatest people on the planet.
