Anyone heading to the UH @ SMU game this weekend? I'm attending graduate school in Fort Worth and wondering how tickets work. Should I get them from Ticketmaster or buy them at the venue?
I checked last night and it said I have to e-mail them. The price is also a bit higher. I know it benefits the university, but I'm a broke student EDIT: Actually, it says "Available at event"
ACC is most likely bet. ACC has a way to expand under their latest deal & as a conference they are aggressive.
Stub Hub has end zone seats as cheap as $18 and sideline behind the UH bench for $35. The UH allotment is usually the 2-3 sections on the sideline closest to the hill in the open end of the stadium.
It would be great to receive an invite from them or even another P5 conference. How likely is it that it comes from the ACC, PAC12, or B1G as we're outside their geographic footprint? I don't see TAMU allowing UH to even be under consideration to join the SEC. I think they (ACC, PAC12, or B1G) only consider UH if we're part of a bigger package of schools to reach 16 or more.
The geographic footprint argument isn't as large an issue with the ACC or PAC because both want into the fertile Texas market; and believe a lack of presence in the state is hurting their recruiting and in turn their value as conferences. I don't think the ACC would expect/demand a large group to come with Houston into the conference. They also can fairly easily add another school from Florida if they want a certain number. The PAC is different in that their deal is not as lucrative as they feel it should be and it is harder to break. The PAC has long wanted a presence in Texas and Florida for recruiting purposes. I agree that if they choose to expand it would likely mean targeting adding multiple southern schools. However there are Florida area schools available. It isn't a guarantee by any stretch, but it isn't as open and shut as some will say either.
Man, such high hopes for UH this year, with a shot to run sneak into the playoff and get in the Big 12. Bummer on both fronts. Gotta prevent the 3rd strike from happening (Herman leaving).
Isn't there a saying that bad luck happens in threes or something like that? Hopefully Charlie rights the ship up in Austin.
Looks like UH is about to give Herman a raise in the 5 million range to keep him from bolting since the Crap 12 decided not to expand. That's what Strong makes at Texas.
Gotta wonder if its about money though. Way easier to get to the CFP at UT than UH. Ole Miss has three losses and is still in the top 25, Baylor plays high school teams and is top 10, UH loses one game and drops 8 spots. I'm curious to see how Orgeron does with the rest of LSU's schedule. I wonder what they'll do if he wins the remainder of the schedule except for Bama.
I'm glad we're already trying to lock him up. Be proactive. Don't wait for buzzards to start circling.
