If the NFL expands to playing Arena League squads, your argument is still lame.

Stop whining about any fan if you disowned your own squad.

So are you arguing that "Texans fans" who walked out on the team yesterday disowned the team? Or are they just bad fans? You do realize that there's a difference right?

I never walked out on the Astros while I was a fan of theirs. If you are going to be a fan, be a good fan. If you aren't going to be a fan, don't be a fan.

I stopped being an Astros fan because I don't like AL baseball, never have. As such, you don't see me in the Astros forum do you? I mean unless there is something talking about the team back when I was a fan.

If the Rockets start playing by MTV Rock N Jock rules, I'm almost certainly going to ditch them too.....but that doesn't mean I'll be a bad fan up until that point.

Only the 6th franchise victory vs IND.

I'm saying if you disown your behind a DH, you sound hypocritical talking about other fans being bad.

Then you simply don't understand and that's fine. Deciding to not be a fan anymore is different than being a fair weather fan. When I was an Astros fan, I was a good fan, in fact, when I stopped following them they were on the cusp of becoming watchable again. I know baseball isn't for everyone and not every fan can tell the difference between AL baseball and NL baseball from a strategy standpoint and that's fine. If it doesn't affect your enjoyment of the game, great. It does affect mine though.....the fact that you can't see that or have a problem with it is, well, not my problem.

There's a pretty huge difference between not following a team anymore due to them changing what game they play and fair weather fans walking out on their team due to a bad performance. One is an example of a bad fan, the other is an example of a former fan. Take some time to think on that and maybe you'll figure it out.

Either way, no reason to keep trying to derail the thread with your whiny "YOU STOPPED BEING A FAN OF THE ASTROS!!!!1111ONEONEONE!!!" nonsense. I'm sure no one but you cares.

Not that anybody should continue this random off-topic conversation... but once the NL adopts the DH after the next CBA, will you start watching baseball again, or just be done with the sport altogether?

Its not like they decided not to play baseball... its the same game. Rules change throughout all sports. The DH is like having the extra point rule applied to just one conference.

I'm already all but done with the sport altogether now that I don't have a rooting interest anymore so yeah, when they adopt the universal DH, I'll be done with it. I'll sometimes watch a game maybe, but I'll do so similar to how I occasionally watch a soccer game now. I just don't enjoy the game as much when nearly all of the strategy is taken out of it with the DH and I wouldn't start to enjoy it if everyone was doing it.

It is what it is and it's a completely separate issue from bad fans being bad fans.

Better put, you're a bad Houston fan.

Stop trying to belittle me. I know the difference between DH and no DH and all that plays into it. I prefer NL. But, to act like the difference is Arena vs NFL is just more garbage spewed from your mouth.

You are a bad Houston fan, and sound even worse speaking on fans for leaving early. Seems like the players/coaches needed such a stance to remove their heads out of their ass.

I understand you don't see that way... or, at least, won't admit it.

17 observations from Texans vs. Colts
Hours after Nick Novak[IMG]’s field-goal attempt went through the uprights for the improbable 26-23 win over the Indianapolis Colts, it’s still surreal to think the Texans won that game. How? Beats me, but this squad kept fighting and competed until the zeroes... uh, I mean, the overtime kick went through the uprights. Through the fog of the night, here are my observations.

    1. At some point in the fourth quarter, Marc Vandermeer threw it down to me for a quick sideline hit. I believe the Texans were down 20-9 at that point and I mentioned that this was an opportunity to see into this team’s soul. What was this 2016 team really going to be all about? What would define this team? To this point, many pointed to the two blowout losses to New England and Minnesota as the defining instances for this 2016 Texans squad. But, as noted, this win will tell us more about this squad than any other moment to this point in the season. To come back from down two scores, midway through the fourth quarter, says a ton about the soul of this team.

    2. I’ll get to Lamar Miller[IMG] in an instant, but there has been a ton of backlash on quarterbackBrock Osweiler[IMG] for his rough performance against the Minnesota Vikings’ stout defense. For much of the game, it appeared that the noise would only get louder after a sure defeat to the Colts. But, if there’s something to take out of the win, it’s that this team never panicked, in large part because its signal caller never panicked and he never quit chopping wood. It was not pretty through three quarters, but he kept slinging the rock and eventually good things started to happen. The interception was a lousy throw and he’ll say the same, but he made up for it with two GEMS - the touchdown to C.J. Fiedorowicz[IMG] and the go route to Jaelen Strong[IMG] to set up Nick Novak’s game winner. It’s now time for No. 17 to take the next step and if/when he does... look out.

    3. Lamar Miller was a football playing dude on Sunday night. A straight-out, football-running dude. He didn’t single-handedly keep the Texans in the game, but pretty darn close. He ran with juice. He ran explosively. He ran through tackles. He made people miss. He shook the entire Colts defense on his winding touchdown catch and run. He was brilliant. Pure and simple.

    4. Miller didn’t do it alone, as he had a ton of help. The offensive line struggled a little bit early on, but once the run game got going, that quintet was excellent the rest of the game. On the goal line, Xavier Su-a-Filo put D’Qwell Jackon on his wallet on Miller’s rushing touchdown. GuardOday Aboushi[IMG] and tackle Chris Clark[IMG] played well on the right side having never played next to one another. Miller ran for 149 yards behind this group, 158 yards overall, 5.6 yards per carry and the first rushing touchdown on the season.

    5. Kevin Johnson[IMG] made a number of tackles at the line of scrimmage and one tackle for a loss. He was so quick to react and make the tackle out on the edge. He had nine solos, ten on the night and one tackle for a loss. He had a pass breakup as well. With the injuries to Johnathan Joseph[IMG] and Kareem Jackson[IMG], Johnson has more than ably filled those shoes the past few weeks.

    6. Benardrick McKinney[IMG]continues to thrive at inside linebacker in his second season andBrian Cushing[IMG] played well alongside. The two combined for 20 tackles on the night and came up with stops when needed. Unfortunately, the Colts ran for 161 yards with Frank Gore picking up a C note on the ground, so work is still needed on run defense, no question.

    7. McKinney’s sack on Andrew Luck in overtime lit NRG Stadium on fire. I was still convinced up until that play that Luck would find a rabbit in the hat as he seems to always do. But, on that third down, McKinney delay blitzed and took off like a shot toward Luck when the hole opened up. It was the perfect call by defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel because it got pressure up in Luck’s face and he couldn’t escape.

    8. Colts star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton had three catches for 49 yards. Now, that’s impressive, for the Texans, that is. Now, keep in mind, the secondary had A.J. Bouye[IMG], Andre Hal[IMG], Corey Moore[IMG] and Kevin Johnson for long stretches at a time in the base unit because of injuries to Joseph, Jackson and Quintin Demps[IMG]. Moore and Johnson had never faced Luck and Hal had only briefly in 2014 when he was a backup cornerback. Now, how much more impressive is that three-for-49-yard performance for Hilton? Very.

    9. C.J. Fiedorowicz has become one of the most vital assets for this Texans offense. He finished with six catches on the night and the game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter. Once he got his confidence in the win over Tennessee, it was clear that he was going to be hard to stop. What’s happened is that Brock Osweiler is now looking for him in key situations. And, finding him, too. C.J. has 16 catches in six games. He had 17... for the entire 2015 season! He had 21 career catches heading into 2016. Twenty one. Suffice to say, he’s taken massive strides as a go-to pass catcher for this offense.

    10. However, when the Texans trailed 23-9, Brock Osweiler went to Ryan Griffin[IMG] on the first two plays of that next scoring series. Then, it was…

    11. ...Hopkins’ time. Four receptions, three of them for first downs, but the one on third and nine was one of the most important plays of the entire night. Hopkins had nine receptions for 71 hard-earned yards, but he was a true baller at the biggest time of this comeback win.

I'm surprised y'all are still arguing / complaining / discussing fans leaving early from a game that the offense looked completely inept in....down 14 points with less than 3 min left.....

I stayed, but I don't hold any animosity versus the fans that left early....it was late, we looked like total ****. Who cares. The team pulled out the most unlikely comeback and win.

Need more of the final 3 min / OT Brock. That one pass to Fiedorowicz was a thing of beauty....perfect timing, location, and a bullet.

I'm not sure why this is being discussed in a Texans thread, but the addition of a DH is a pretty bizarre reason to stop liking the Astros. Not that its any of my business anyway. You do you, I guess.

I don't expect everyone to understand the difference it makes to the game and it doesn't really matter. The only reason it came up is because a troll wanted to troll.

I refuse to watch the Astros until the MLB raises the mound back to pre-1969 levels.

And I wasn't even alive then.

This is the strangest feeling after a win ever. We just beat a division rival who's probably are only competition and sit at 1 in the afc south, yet I'm not that impressed or excited.

I'm sure everyone knows that this is more of your trolling nonsense, but just so I can stop stupid narratives before they get popular I'll point out that this has no basis in reality. I said that they were making a conscious decision to lose by going with Hoyer, and he proved me right in the very first game.....and pretty much every other game not against the weakest competition in the league. In fact, without Hoyer getting hurt twice, the Texans don't make the playoffs last season....unfortunately he got healthy for the playoff game and that's why it was such a blowout.

It's strange. I didn't even get off the couch when we won the game. Just said to myself "cool..." and went to bed.
