Not if you are a wealthy CTO. These South Asian states have some of the highest income and standard of living parity in the world where the wealthy live a completely different reality than the mass population. They'll be pretty damn safe.

Even the liberals are rejecting this story, except the left wing nut jobs like ^^^.

This isn't Trumps America and he is not going to be president. Why would he leave when the election is a month away? This is stupid.

Secondly, even if 3rd world countries had great safe zones that match the rest of the world, do you not think this guy could put his kid in a private school where his kids would be respected and safe ... provided this story was half true?

I believe the kid got beat up and that sucks.

I also believe the father excels at what he does and is an asset in the war on terror

But yeah, I find this story kind of attention-whorish

Well I guess you'll agree that the guy from Pakistan knows almost infinitely more about it than you do. . . .

People aren't always rational. He has a long history and presumably lots of family in Pakistan. When people are shaken, they often return to their roots. Again, it might be a stupid or not-well-thought-out thing to do - but people do stupid things all the time. There's nothing particularly unusual about the decision.

The data suggest you are wrong since a lot of people put considerable efforts into making into America, Pakistan not so much. The net migration rate for pakistan is -1000000 for US its 5000000.

From my experience of vising South Asia vs being raised in the States, if you are wealthy, you are going to live a more luxurious life in these South Asian states primarily because of cheap labor. Pretty much the part of my family who still lives in Bangladesh still have servants and drivers and gated compound houses. The income they make overall would not be able to afford all those entities in the States.

There. There's a perspective of someone who's seen both sides.

LMFAO as long as you are not in politics?

Well that a quaint way to put it... I think you mean as long as you don't give a damn about basic human rights, wide spread unrest, religious extremism, freedom or justice. Also I hope he doesn't ever have a daughter. I am sure his "All American" son will fit in dandy in Pakistan.

I also find it very odd that out of all the children and a bus driver no one saw anything. Are we to believe that all the children and bus driver conspired? There is more to this story than is being reported.

Yeah I've been to Pakistan a few times, though not in the last 20 years. Have family there as well. Some of them are pretty damn loaded and no its still not safe. India is probably much safer.

That ugly billion dollar house is in India not Pakistan.

Something doesn't sit right with this story. It could be entirely plausible, but there's just not enough evidence to conclude religious persecution and make a political statement about it, and then run back to his country that's rife with religious persecution.

This thread is rife with misconceptions about how the privileged live in Pakistan.

I really can't emphasize enough that it is totally unlike the Pakistan most of you are familiar with.

These folks don't just exist in a cocoon, they literally live in a different world that is totally catered to them. Forget about financially, we are talking about ideological, religious and legal isolation. Unless you are South Asian, I bet most of you couldn't tell Lahore and Karachi apart.

Bottom line, his Americanized son will have noooo problem adjusting and his status makes the decision a relatively easy one.

If you are truly curious, the first few minutes of this video introduces the idea of this divide via the commonly used pejoratives: Burgers vs Bun Kebabs

Not really, I mean 7 year olds are not prone to getting into fights - at that age they are more likely to hug.

    This honestly smells like crap.

Certainly not here in the US. Now I'm curious how 7 years old normally behave in Pakistan.

It could have indirectly come from parents complaining insofar as there is more news about Muslims as a social group than when we were adolescents. Seven year olds were certainly capable of dropping "N" and "SL" bombs in the early to mid-80s with or without a beating.

You have to be at least suspicious of this story when the father's conclusion is to move the family to the "mother-ship of terrorism".
