LOLOLOL...Wait, hold up...you're actually comparing today's era with the late 90s and early 00's? LOLOLOLOL. You realize that last year, 12 QBs passed for 4,000 yards...while in 2000, only 3 people passed for 4,000 yards? Same thing applies to completion percentage...last year, 26 QBs completed 60% or higher...while in 2000, it was about 10 QBs. The fact that you are comparing McNair's numbers to current QBs is awesomely hilarious.

You realize McNair, during his 7-8 years of prime football (spent a few years on the pine to start his career and was hobbled during the last few years of his career)....he had 4 seasons where he was top 10 in yards passing? 4 seasons in top 10 in completion percentage? In 2001 and 2003, he was 1st and 2nd in YPA in the entire league? He was also top 5 two times in QB rating? This doesnt even take into account the threat he was to run with the ball. McNair would be a legit top 10-12 QB in today's NFL, if not better. I mean, he threw for more TDs than Aikman, while throwing far less interceptions. Wow, you're lost here bud. Oh, and who did McNair have to throw to? Mason and Wycheck? Kevin Dyson?

    Out of your:
    "Mallet is better than Hoyer"
"The Minnesota Vikings arent good, they just rely on good defense and AP"
"The Titans are the worst team in football" - Then follow it up a week later with "It's between the Titans and Texans for the division".
"Our schedule this year is much easier than last year"
"Brock has been playing above average"

I think your McNair take is easily the most laughable. Damn, didnt think you could make yourself look worse. Pure entertainment.

Wow, I knew you've been a bit slow lately but this is kind of crazy. You do realize that I said "if he played in the league today" right? You know, that's what you are responding to. His performance if in the league today would be unacceptable.....and you actually even proved it by pointing out how much better QB's perform today. You can't just assume that he'd learn how to throw the ball better if playing now vs playing then. If he played in the league today, he'd be a fringe starter as one of the worst in the league or he'd be a backup. You have to be able to play better than he did to be a QB today.

Honestly, I don't know why I bother with you. It's just sad. At least HardenTime is intentionally trolling with his tired shtick.....I have the feeling that you just can't do better.

LOL this is the state of the Texans forum during ignorant hot take week, we have some bashing Osweiler for getting an easy first down instead of throwing into bracketed coverage.....and someone hyping up Steve McNair as if it would be okay to have a QB that struggles to pass the ball as much as he did in the league today.

Seriously people, it's gone too far. It's time to dial back ignorant hot take week.

How did he not know how to throw the ball when he was top 10 in passing yards, completion percentage, YPA, and QB rating multiple times?

Using your standard, only about 5 QBs from 20 years ago would be able to start today. Like I showed with actual data, he was among the best in his era. When you laugh at 60% or 3000 yards passing, you're failing to comprehend that league rules/penalties have completely turned the NFL into an offensive game....You're probably too young to understand, but DBs basically raped WR, making it much harder to complete passes, throw for better percentages, throw for more yards. They changed the game to make it more appealing to the masses. It's much easier to throw for 4,000 yards or complete 60% of passes...as my numbers have shown.

Are you saying Troy Aikman would be a fringe starter in todays NFL? Similar passing yards, completion percentage, YPA, and QB rating...except McNair was a dual threat QB on top of that.

Also, McNair's resume shows an MVP award as well.

Yeah, that's probably accurate. How are you struggling with this? Terry Bradshaw would make Tim Tebow look like a great QB but back when he played he was a HOFer. To try and get back to the main point, if someone said that a QB was the next Terry Bradshaw, that would be an awful thing for that QB.

The standards are just MUCH higher today than they were then and they are looking for different things than they were looking for then.

It's so weird when I have to spell out the obvious to people as if I'm introducing them to the concept running water or something.

While I'm explaining the obvious, does anyone need me to explain why passing into bracket coverage is dangerous and why picking up an easy first down is a smarter option?

So now you're comparing a guy playing in the 70s? lol.

You didnt answer the question. Are you saying Troy Aikman would be a fringe starter in today's NFL?

SMH, okay I get it, this conversation is over your head. No problem, I did my best but I'm not Anne Sullivan, my patience as a teacher goes only so far. There's going to be concepts that you just are incapable of grasping and that's okay. We'll try to work around it.

Dan Marino completed 59% of his passes during his career...would he be a fringe starter in today's NFL?

John Elway completed 57% of his passes and only threw for 4000 yards 1 time in his career. And a QB rating less than 80. Is John Elway a fringe starter in the NFL if he played today?

SMH, you are coming super close to me just ignoring you. In the past you've had some halfway intelligent football takes, what happened to you? Now you seem to struggle with basic concepts. It's really sad, and I hope you manage to turn it around at some point because it's just embarrassing.

By all means though, continue showing that basic concepts are over your head if you like. Whatever makes you happy.

Anyway, I think we've had enough of the derp fest, let's get this thread back on topic with more Osweiler related ignorant hot takes.

You said McNair would be a fringe starter bc he struggled to complete 60% of his passes and struggled to complete 3000 yards in a year. What Im showing you is that the 60% completion percentage for McNair is equal to or better than Aikman, Elway, and Marino. Also, McNair had similar or better QB ratings than these guys.

So, based on your critical analysis of McNair, are you saying that Elway's 79 QB rating and 57% completion percentage and lack of throwing for 4k yards (something half of the QBs do today)...that Elway would be a fringe starter in the NFL?

Why dont you answer the question instead of babbling nonsense. Im using the standard you used to measure McNair to show you how dumb you can be.

You are showing more examples of QB's from the past that wouldn't have the skills to play today.....you just don't seem to understand that. The reason it's not fair to compare generations is because people from the past couldn't compete because the league has gotten better, stronger, and faster. This is true in just about any sport and the further you go back, the fewer players that would even be able to make it into the league to begin with. Babe Ruth wouldn't be an MLB player today. I know, I just blew your mind.

Anyway, I've accepted that this concept is just one you aren't ever going to grasp, so further derailing this thread won't help. Let's just get back to Osweiler related hot takes.

So you're saying Brock is bigger, faster and stronger than McNair? The rules of the game have changed, that's why in just 15 years, you're seeing completely different passing numbers...it has nothing to do with evolution. People dont evolve so quickly.

I'm fine with you thinking that and I've said many times now that I accept that you won't ever grasp this concept so let's just move on and get this thread back on topic. Continuing this nonsense won't get us anywhere.

And I can pull up 100 articles on how the era's of passing arent comparable bc of rule changes and style of play. Has nothing to do with being faster and stronger...in fact, QB play has very little to do with all that, which was the topic we were talking about, no?
