You can believe them or not. I thought Person of Interest already laid the foundation for this show so I feel like they have a good grip on where they want it to go.

I actually like the fact that they have it all planned out. There really are multiple storylines they could explore, rewatched the 2nd episode last night. Lots of little subtle details that you pick up on the 2nd time around.....

Bandwagoner still doesn't believe it. The producer, writer, and actors are lying...as credible as those sources are. ;) A lot of emphasis placed on my two words 'drag on' which was meant to convey the character story lines are going to be long lasting and drag on for a while. And, this will dictate pacing of the story obviously.

I'll bite on one of Bandwagoner's points...if the ratings go south, then the show will not see the end of its planned run because it wouldn't make economic sense to continue to produce a show people have no interest in watching.

Correct... Hah, this happens a lot on shows. sometimes they do just a season to see what ratings look like and then think up more, while others plan it out but know once/if the ratings drop they never get to finish their plans. The positive thing is that westworld has the plans and production group that could fund it even if ratings aren't great, and then wrap it up sooner than the 4/5 seasons etc. I know on Mr. Robot the ratings were tanking compared to season 1 but it got renewed for 3 probably because of the awards it received. I'm currently thinking this has the staying power to see it through, but obviously we've seen it before where it starts out great and falls apart, and unfortunately by the time it has a bigger following the actors have all moved on.

Time will tell, I'm certainly more confident in HBO series lately to stick around vs. some of the garbage on local TV.

you have to be more specific than "it". No production is delayed for 6 months to break stories you might not ever get to shoot. They were preparing this season. End of story.

Like grendal says, literally no one is sad they actually have a plan if they get more seasons. Thats great and something I have complained about for other shows. They sometimes seem to just have a great idea and arc for the first season because it is hard to get a show on air then they have no ideas for season 2. Something I am scared of for Stranger Things.

Serious question: if a female guest wanted to have sex with one of the male hosts..how rough could the host be in bed? Would he just have to be completely submissive and wait for instruction from the guest? Or can they "sense" the female's mood?

In other words, how do they program the hosts to avoid raping/harming guests by accident?

Can guests hurt other guests? When people go in for the first time they have trouble figuring out who is real and who isn't. So with that said, couldn't a guest accidentally stab another guest thinking they were a host?

It's a fair point. Just because a guest can't shoot another guest (assuming they didn't bring their own guns...lol)...it doesn't mean there can't be guest on guest violence. I'm not clear how a guest can tell if it's a robot or not in this one (unless I missed it). In the original movie, the guest could look at the hands and you could tell it was a robot because apparently they hadn't figured out how to perfect the hands of the robots (which seems kind of silly given they could perfect everything else on the robot body). But, that was the "tell" for the guests to know. Obviously, for a lot of them in the town, you can tell they are robots if they are "working" or you keep running into them in their same routine (repetition) / storylines.

So, I would say guests can hurt other guests...albeit the creators are monitoring what is going on so I'm sure they have contingencies if it happens. There may be a reveal that addresses how this is handled. It either hasn't been revealed yet or I missed it.

In the second scene on the train, two hotties talk about this. One says Teddy is dreamy and the other said dreamy is boring, she's looking for bad boys

If the guest is in danger, like falling off a cliff, the hosts are programmed to help the guests, but only if they are in danger. They are programmed to protect the guests above all, never harm a fly, but they are there to pleasure the guests up to the point of anything life threatening.

Haven't seen the film, but apparently it takes a different posture toward the robots than the TV show:

michael crichton is a bit beyond the tropes of asimov. His themes are more about humans meddling in extremely complicated systems without real knowledge and then paying the price for it. Sphere with time travel, andromeda with space, jurrasic park with bioscience, terminal man neuroscience, state of fear and climate change. ww with AI.
