Every country has their fair share of idiots. That doesn't change basic human etiquette of not disrespecting other culture's monuments. To imply that because some Chinese tourists did something completely disrespectful so it's OK to do it in return is completely ass backwards stupidity.
To clarify if anyone is foolish enough to assume otherwise. This is not a race thing for me. This is a respect thing for me. Unless they have a sign that says specifically that you can write stuff there, don't deface things that hold cultural significance for others. Hell, don't deface things that are not yours. It's like stupid kids egging or toilet wrapping people's houses on Halloween.
Its chalk and he apologized but if someone did the same on one of our national monuments I'm sure you would be looking at a fine or worse.
"Every country has their fair share of idiots." If you admit that why are you HYPER freaking out in this thread? Just a bunch of idiots right?
Chinese tourists are actually probably the worst in the world right now. I don't think I'd say "some" given my experiences with them. And even if I did, some of a billion and a half is still a hell of a lot.
I've seen a Chinese tourist step in front of a picture you're taking, but never deface the Lincoln memorial. I'm sure tons of people write on the wall with chalk based on that signature right underneath BB's, but the real disrespect is putting it on social media. If someone tagged a building they probably shouldn't put it online, right? Especially if it's traceable. There's obviously no long term damage with chalk, but if thousands wrote their name on it every day, The Great Wall would lose a little luster.
I am not hyper freaking out, I am expressing my annoyance at the idiocy of some of the members posting in this thread.
When it comes to manners and proper etiquette, the Chinese are terrible. So they can regularly destroy things as tourists in other nations....... squat in the corner or road to take a dump..... push past people and fart at their leisure.... but Bobby Brown writing on a fake part of the Wall with chalk is terrible? I tell you what, stop passing of the fake Wall as the real Wall to tourists so that you can screw them out of money. Also, there are thousands of miles of the Wall, and the ORIGINAL Wall is sitting and falling apart due to neglect. If the Chinese are so concerned about someone writing in chalk; then upkeep it. This all reeks of an inferiority complex.
I rather have a Chinese tourist than a British tourist. They are the most horrible the only word to describe them is human trash. If you don't know about them it's because their kind wouldn't have the money to go to the USA and if they did and tried to pull their crap there they would be immediately arrested and put in jail. The difference is that the locals do it themselves. Stupid or not it's definitely not an action that should have caused any type of outrage.
Nobody can upkeep the real Great Wall. Most of the rebuilt ones are on the foundations of real ones in accessible locations. Most of the "real" great walls are along remote mountain tops where no one can get to and most are abandoned for hundreds of years. Are you going to hike 10 hours out of civilization and then scale some cliffs to maintain them.
There are so many chinese names written on that thing. And they plaster it over all the time. Also, the Great Wall is very long. Most of it is is completely overgrown and falling apart.
Exactly this. I got to go to the original Wall. An amazing experience. The Wall that most people go to? It looks fake. It is fake. The Chinese didn't care enough to protect it in its original state. And with my personal experience living in China, Chinese tourists are by far the worst. Having to deal with them on a daily base is quite a severe experience.
People in America lose their **** if an athlete doesn't stand for attention, but its ok to deface a another country's source of national pride? I don't know that anyone claiming no big deal is against Kap's actions, but I would be willing to be a good percentage of them were.
