He went on a tyrade yesterday against Charlie fans, and I changed to NPR after 5 minutes of it. Sean Jones and Adam's segment of 790 is the only one I'll be listening to anymore unless Josh actually makes the effort to discuss Rockets with any regularity.
pure ratings decision, been planned for a bit apparently. charlie has a 6 month no-compete but would be shocked if he didn't end up at 610. who knows for certain tho. i'll still listen to the morning show bc i love matt, lance and ross but that's it. i'll follow CP anywhere.
Does he gets paid for the 6months he is off the air? I think he would make a good addition to the 610 morning show. Seth is probably as smart as charlie.
2 words why he may not end up on 610; Laura Reynolds. Seems they were a thing once a upon a time during his stay at 610.
Let him take over the boring midday slot at 610. The only daytime show I avoid on that station. Gonna miss Charlie on 790. I listened to him loyally even after moving to the West Coast. He and Mike & Seth had the best sports shows in town. A shame they brought it that clown.
Yeah. Their "thing" consisted of him breaking up a relationship, as long as she is a Program Director he won't be anywhere close to 610.
Writing on the wall at 790. Matt and Lance in the morning was and is awful, they try to talk over each other all the time and always try to out joke one another. In the trenches is fine. Honestly Houston sports talk is Mad Radio and that's the only decent option now that Charlie is gone. I accidentally put Innes on the other day and felt like the 3 seconds he was on was too much. I don't understand how this blowhard keeps getting gigs.
Ross on his own is kinda lame. Only time I liked him was in Matt Thomas's midday show. Although if Ross's show turned into something similar to Matt's old show I think it would be bearable. + potential for good Rockets talk and interviews
MAD Radio is the only thing that I truly enjoy now. Everything else is meh for me. Really annoyed at my drive home now. Tried to listen to Innes today (for the 2nd time and 3 days), and I just cant tolerate more than a segment. I need CP...I feel really lost and bored in my car after work.
Wouldn't be shocked if the non compete didn't hold up or get negotiated down. Doesn't sound like this was a decision to fire somebody with cause. Also, given CP's last non-compete war (which he won), it would be surprising if he allowed himself to get constrained in a similar fashion this time around (and as one of the founding talent at 790, he likely had very favorable contract terms). But this all presumes he's even going to want to stay in the market.
I'm a huge fan of Matt Thomas even though I don't like sports shows run by guys without a ton of sports knowledge (and let's face it, Matt is no encyclopedia of sports). I liked him when he was with Ross mid-day and had those whack jobs calling in. I'm not a huge fan of his show with Lance in the morning. I listened to them calling the Rockets game in China this morning and thought it was great although both acted like they were new to Rockets basketball as apparently neither knew Onuaku shot free throws underhanded. And it was somewhat a *sigh* moment when Lance started doing all the predictable Bobby Brown jokes that were done on the forum a few weeks ago. In a nutshell, maybe it's us and not them ... lol. I also have to echo that I'll try to listen to Charlie wherever he goes (as long as it's in Houston as I really don't care about sports talk in other cities).
I'm w Rez... CP was like a calming beacon of civil discourse and knowledgeable sports talk that I listened to almost everyday. I listen to music all day at work, CP was a good respite in the car. Also agree that Matt and Ross midday was gold. Matt's general lack of sports talk could get to me at times but it was just flat out entertaining.
I listen to music enough...I could listen to music on my drive home, but I'd prefer to listen in on whats going on in the sports world with a tilt towards Houston sports. Getting ready in the morning, going to the gym, night time lounging around the couch/bed...that's my music time.
I've never listened to a podcast in my life, but it sounds like it'd be better for your constitution if yall listened to podcasts or satellite radio or something.
In part because of the recent 610 morning turnover with Nick Wright leaving. Also, Lopez is awful. But it won't sustain long term. The only good show as others have stated is MAD radio. Their only issues are the recent move to mornings and sometimes Seth goes off the rails. Good Seth is great but bad Seth is awful.
And we thought we had it bad with Khloe Kardashian last year. Now we have Innes. Ugh. I hate him more than that Lakers fan on the animated gif with the L medallion and tongue wagging as he says "LLLLLLLAKERS!" More than the city of Dallas. More than Mark Cuban. More than Sloan era Jazz. That is how much I despise Innes. Do not let him fool you. He is on the local radio "Home of the Rockets" and the man openly hates the Rockets. If he is ever drowning I'm tossing him a dumbbell.
i listen to a ton of podcasts, usually at night before bed. also listen to siriusxm almost exclusively in the car when it wasn't CP time.
