Kevin McHale, during conference call with Turner Sports, was asked about James Harden: “James is a hell of a player. There’s nothing that kid can’t do. He can pass the ball. He can shoot the ball. He’s strong. He gets a lot of rebounds in traffic. He just got to be wired into defense, and understanding that he’s a big part of that team and he has to put the team first. It’s not always going to be your night. I’ve often said the mark of a great player is when he’s having a bad shooting night he’s still able to help his team. There are a lot of different tools in his tool box to help a team win games. Can you help your team win when the ball’s not going in…and that’s got to be James’ mantra. He’s got to find a way. Taking it full circle to the best players in the league, and I know that’s who he wants to be, LeBron can win games when his shot’s not going down. The elite of the elite can help their team in many ways" http://hoopshype.com/rumor/1077298/
Considering what his wife tweeted, I assume every good thing McHale is going to say about Harden will not be honest. It may be true, but it won't be honest. I don't think McHale's wife figured it out herself, that Harden got McHale fired, McHale must have mentioned it to her himself. Anyway, McHale saying all the right things is about to fool another GM into giving him a job. But then again, can we blame McHale for anything? He was brought in as big name no skills head coach, if anything we should blame guy who brought him in.
To be honest I've heard him say good things about Harden before, never heard him talk about Howard, that'll be interesting. In any case I don't think Harden was the reason of him being fired. Maybe I just want to believe that...
How are some of the board's reactions to anything McHale any different from the internet's "but does he play defense" reaction to anything Harden?! Give the man a break!
His criticism sounds sincere. But I'll never forget McHale going on TNT after getting fired, and kinda trashing the organization including Dwight and Harden. That's about as unclassy as it gets. ESPECIALLY given the significant amount of money he's still getting from us. He sucked as a coach and should've been fired after the Portland series
McHale's comments on the days Harden doesn't have it going "Play Harder" "clap "clap" "Ball got sticky" "I didn't know what to do"
"The mark of a great player is, sometimes the other coach game-plans circles around your own coach, and you still have to find ways to win. What happens when you lose the battle of the X's and O's, and Keith Jones is teaching all your teammates how to shoot threes? You gotta tell your teammates to tune out the coaches and just win." Fire Keith Jones.
Remember the time Mchale called that one out of bounds play that worked? Good times......good times.....
