I just want this posted up again in case anyone missed it. Might be the best post I've ever seen on clutchfans. Well said, HN, well said.
You/we have been given too many opportunities to hate said reactions. The negative comments would be lessened by more success and less suckage.
One of only two victories we have in the entire BOB era over teams with a winning record. BOB's offense (offensive guru that he is and such) played like d**s*** that game, too.
Yawn... You just sound negative. This is the NFL, any team can win on any given Sunday. While yes we have struggled against better teams, we have posted back to back winning records and won our division last year.. so what our division sucks, nothing we can do about that but win it. Would I give up the next 2 divisional games to beat the Broncos? Yes. but that's just stupid and selfish of me. People don't realize how much worse it could be.
Fair enough; it was an impressive win. What else? I listed six games in which the Texans trailed, collectively, 198-13. And every one of the games occurred within the last 12 months (give or take a few days). And it's not just good teams - Atlanta and Miami posted the two largest deficits and they won 8 and 6 games last year. This regime has exactly one signature win - and it is being drowned out by a slew of terrible, high-profile losses.
Signature wins could be hard to come by when 6 out of the 16 games are being played against dumpster-fire-level teams over the last two years. Teams biggest wins/rivals typically reside within their own division. They also played a bad NFC East in year one of BOB, and an even worse NFC West in year two. For the most part, they win games they're supposed to win... and they lose games they're supposed to lose. They're nothing special.... they're mediocre. They play in an awful division, which perhaps contributes to the problem (playing down to the level of competition). For me, their best wins of the BOB era have been. 2014 against Baltimore (Keenum game), 2015 against Cincy, 2015 against Jets, 2015 at Indy (mainly due to the division winning ramifications, and having never won there), and 2016 against the Chiefs.
Interesting thing I saw during the game and PDS pointed it out too: The center holds the ball, bobs his head (to look through his legs at the qb, I think?) then snaps the ball. This happened on every offensive snap I watched, with consistent enough timing that anybody watching could have predicted the snap exactly. A hard count would maybe draw them offsides.
It is perfectly acceptable to be unhappy with how the team has played so far. They've only won home games against bad to average teams and got blown out in road games by very good teams. It sucks, you're angry, you want change. Perfectly understandable. It is also perfectly acceptable be hopeful about the future of this team. There are many new pieces to this offense and maybe, just maybe, they will figure things out. We have seen glimpses to give us hope. Plus they play in a crappy division and are the favorites to win it. If they've worked out the kinks by then, they might win a game or two. You're hopeful. Perfectly understandable.
