i like how mouthpiece feigen vaguely refers to it as a sore knee, instead of stating the specific injury, such as a partially torn meniscus for instance
They've been very vague on this, FWIW. They're officially calling it "left knee irritation", which is odd terminology -- they typically use sprain if there's a sprain, for example. That said, Beverley was at practice and dressed out, so it's not like he's in hiding. He had a sleeve on over the knee and didn't seem to be limping, just wasn't going through drills. No one seems overly concerned, but the vibe with how it was phrased before the China trip was that his not playing (and not going on the trip) was purely precautionary. Well, it's now 10+ days later, and he's still not ready to go. I don't think they lied, but I do think it's fair to wonder if his knee hasn't responded to the rest as well as they had hoped.
Injury prone player is injured. Rockets not as forthcoming. Pablo Prigioni, Bob Brown, Tyler Ennis, Gary Payton II, Isaiah Taylor In before Bev is out for season/long period of time.
bev is too injury prone. hell most of our rotation is injury prone: ryno, ego, nene, bev, dmo. he'd be great trade bait given his contract, and im sure MDA would like a guard who can actually create on the perimeter. problem is he's james' lapdog and the rockets won't do anything to upset james.
It still just sounds like patella tendonitis, so I'm surprised they aren't calling it that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Pat Beverley likely to miss season opener The Rockets do not expect guard Pat Beverley to be available in time for next week's season-opener, Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said, as Beverley works his way back from irritation on his left knee. Beverley did not attend Tuesday's practice to instead have a doctor's appointment to re-examine the knee. "We'll know more by the end of the week," D'Antoni said. "I'm not counting on (Beverley returning by the season opener.) Can't count on that. "There's always concern until (Beverley) gets back on the floor, but we'll deal with it. If it's more, he'll do it and he'll be back as soon as he can. The season is long. He's going to be a big part of what we do. We have patience. We can wait on him." Guard Pablo Prigioni, who missed Saturday's game with a sprained left shoulder suffered on a hit by Pelicans center Alexis Ajinca last Wednesday in Beijing, did not practice on Tuesday. He is uncertain to play Wednesday in Dallas, but D'Antoni said he "for sure" will play Friday in San Antonio. Beverley was considered certain to start in the backcourt with James Harden. With Beverley out, D'Antoni has used K.J. McDaniels in the past two games, hoping to keep Eric Gordon in his sixth man role. With Beverley unlikely to play in the season-opener, he could move Gordon into the starting lineup. "That's part of basketball," D'Antoni said. "We have other guys ready to step up. Eric Gordon has been playing great. Pablo and different guys will step up."
