This didn't come from the Dems. Apparently NBC had (or rather, was aware of) the tapes for four days, but didn't release out of fear of being sued. Someone at NBC leaked it to the WaPo.
Sidled up to Russia? The fact that you buy into the lame, inaccurate drivel that "Russia is an adversary." (that both republicans and democrats are spinning) shows a naivete when it comes to international relations. Russia is an ally, and would be an even greater ally were it not for US politicians itching for a redux of cold war anti-Russian sentiment. I work closely with Russian government employees every day. They are great partners and few of them understand why the US media and political establishment wants to demonize the Russian government. Putin has been a far more effective and trustworthy head of state than either Obama or Bush.
