I mean, it is just me, or does this sound like mental imbalance?:

Asked by a recent college graduate who is struggling to find work how Trump’s plans would help him, Trump got started by launching into a monologue about the heat in the room that lasted a full 30 seconds. Note that during that ramble, Trump also managed to segue into a complaint about “dishonest” media coverage that had portrayed him as “sweating” at a different previous event.

Trump did then spend a solid minute reiterating his message about trade and about how he’ll stop companies like Apple from manufacturing parts of the iPhone in multiple other countries (presumably through Trumpian tariffs). But then, at a moment when he intended to extol the greatness of the people of this country, he veered off once again into a discussion of how big the crowds were at his rallies, and then into a discussion of how those crowds were bigger than those at Bernie Sanders’s rallies, and from there into still anotherdiscussion, of how Sanders “made a deal with the Devil” by endorsing Hillary Clinton. When Trump finally found his way back to his trade message, he wrapped up with only the most cursory nod to the person who had originally asked the question.

There will be people who vote for trump because they hate taxes, hate Clintons, hate liberals, or hate Washington. They see Trump as some sort of Washington wildfire where everything will magically transform for the better because they, as powerful silent majority voters, hate-****ed their masters and even gave the best damned head out of spite to boot.

Not everyone falls in that basket case of deplorables. That was only half...

Thank God it's not Ted Cruz, who ran a similar playbook. You could practically replace that quoted exchange with Rafael's name.

Key thing to remember is that the election has never really been about Hillary vs. Trump. He's got his supporters, sure, but it's a pretty extreme minority. The way I'd break down the electorate is this:

    • 40% solid Democrats and party faithful
    • 20% legit Trump believers (including SOME of the usual GOP voters, but still a minority)
    • 20% traditional GOP party faithful -- they don't like him, but they go along with it because he's the nominee and they think the Clintons are worse
    • 20% undecided, in middle, third party, or other (i.e. bitter Bernie Sanders diehards)

Bottom line: There's about 60% of the voting electorate that despises Trump -- and possibly even more, if you include the rank-and-file Republicans that are just going along with it. The reason the polls temporarily get "close" is because every time Hillary gets some separation, these "middle" folks that don't particularly like her, either, become less likely to vote because they see her win as inevitable. Either that or they're more comfortable voting third party, for the same reason. But yeah, if you look at Trump's support, it never moves much from the upper 30s to low 40s. He's stuck. It's the Hillary share that goes down, more so than Trump actually winning folks over. The other factor -- the media loves a horse race, so every time Clinton gets a big lead, the stories inevitably shift to her problems. And from there, these "middle" folks decide they hate both candidates, and they either vote third party or decide they might not vote at all. The biggest enemy for Clinton has always been complacency among these "middle" folks.

What this tape does, in my opinion, is secure a good chunk of that "middle" vote for Clinton. I don't think it's going to convert many Trump supporters... but I think a lot of folks who subscribe to the "both-sidesism" logic are going to remember this as evidence of Trump being worse, and it's probably enough for Clinton to win in a relative landslide (8% or more). That's my guess, anyway.

I'm telling you, if he was a pedophile and on the democratic ticket, you wouldn't care either.

Of course this isn't true based on the simple fact that a Trump-like candidate wouldn't last through the DEM primaries.

At this point, I wonder if the Clinton campaign op research team did their job so well that the weight of it will push Trump to resign from the ticket in disgrace? His ego is huge, but if the entire GOP apparatus threatens to abandon him publicly if he doesn't step aside would he really hang in there?

You know right now, there are discussions taking place all over the country between high level republicans and how to approach this....

You watch, the next one will be about rappers. "Well, it was OK for Obama to let (INSERT NAME OF RAPPER) into the White House, who said ______, but now it's not OK for Trump? Hypocrites!" I would not doubt that this argument will be brought up.
