Is that why Trump's chances of winning went from 50% in July to 11% in mid-August to 45% at the end of September, and back down to 25% today (all per 538)? Maybe those aren't people who've "made up their mind", but the likely outcome of the election still seems to vacillate a lot as the campaigns progress. Not sure why you'd think an October surprise wouldn't matter. The first one -- Trump's 1995 tax return -- seems to me to have contributed to his slide. A good wikileaks Clinton scandal could hurt her significantly as well, if they can muster one.
