Why hasn't Trump just released his damn 1040s instead of playing defense on this.

Ah, so all the 50% of people in the U.S. who don't pay federal income taxes are scumbags. Got it.

And you think Trump casts aspersions. Funny.

THAT is a fair point about his taxes. Nothing wrong with it being brought up in that fashion.

FWIW....every politician is a hypocrit, as our most people who follow them. You see hypocritical viewpoints everywhere on forums like this...where something is bad, unless someone from their side does it, then suddenly it is ok. See above for a prime example.

No, not all of the 50% who don't pay taxes. Only those that gripe about 50% not paying taxes, and are filthy rich, running for public office, and trying to hide their tax information from the public.

No where did I say all of the 50% were scumbags.

That would be a pretty good comeback response, but in reality, it depends on how it happened, and how it was handled....and whether the person came back from the experience and made it back, plus more.

Comparing Trump to other successful businessmen doesn't favor him well. I get what you're saying but this guy had a head start and by all measures is a bad businessman.

Well, he used a law (again supposedly considering we don't really know if he didn't pay taxes) just like any other business. Hillary actually is involved in making policy and is susceptible to the influence of lobbyists. There's a difference between who uses it and who makes the policy. That's why you go after the politicians who make these laws over the companies who use them.

Second, in particular to Trump's case, one has to wonder the purpose of the law. There are laws that are designed to give tax breaks to job creators. Some laws give breaks for companies that suffered incredible losses in the hope they survive and keep the jobs around.

A case can be made that the break is too forgiving but, again you have to go after the policy makers. Trump has been a private citizen up until a while ago.Hillary's been ib politics for decades, why didn't she fix it? Why's she only bringing it up now? She's complaining about a rigged system when she's been the system for decades.

You might want to go back and check which candidate it is that's complaining of a rigged system.

The article is biased and intentionally misleading. Yes, you can carryback losses for up to 3 years and carryforward for 15. It doesn't mean Donald Trump didn't pay taxes for 18 years. Who knows if he made large incomes in future years? Not paying taxes due to an NOL seems pretty reasonable to me. Nobody wants to get rid of NOL write-offs.

If we're looking at wealth alone he's imcreased his capital several fold. He's a bad businessman if he has less money than he started out.

From my perspective, it just another reason to not like much of his economic policies. We have a demand issue, not a supply issue, that is more consumer spending is needed to get more investment in expansions and new businesses.

Maybe that's how you see it, I thought being a good business man or woman was running successful businesses.

You do know that Trump has boasted that he's donated ("paid") politicians for business favors. He's literally a lobbyist whose been influencing policy.

He's the other half of the rigged system.

What if he is just waiting until right before the election to release them and there is no bombshell? Essentially trying to show Hillary was on a witch hunt for nothing (like he was with the birth certificate). I wouldn't think that would be the reasoning, but I put nothing past Trump.

If he does not release it soon, it will not matter, the damage will be done(that is if he really has nothing to hide).

If there is no bombshell, wouldn't it be just a witch hunt?

If there is nothing on the tax return, do you believe he would not have released it by now? I would assume he is not a total moron.

funny you compare wanting to see the tax returns as all presidential candidates from the time of Nixon has done to being a birther

you are probably one of those birthers
