Heh, funny that the iPhone 7's ad campaign is centered around the phrase "practically magic". Unless the Pixel blows me away today (and at those prices, it damn well better), I think I'm going to get a Moto Z Play.
The first new nexus line were good because they were cheap. If they charging normal prices why would anyone buy a google phone? Their market share is probably very low.
i don't get this logic. why can't they charge normal prices? because they never done it before? if they are making premium phones, why shouldn't they charge premium prices like samsung does? they are trying to compete with Apple now so it makes sense. The nexus was never marketed to the masses, the pixel will be or attempt to be. with those prices, I expect everything to be top of the line. unlike with the nexus which didn't always have the best specs.
Looks like Allo is NOT going to be an SMS replacement in 7.1. The demo showed him receiving SMS in messenger. I'm wondering if the older phones will get google assistant to replace google search.
https://store.google.com/product/pixel_phone already ordered silver 128 xl. vzw exclusive, but can be ordered from google store for other carriers and also best buy later. edit: that link still isn't accessible through google's store anywhere. you have to click the link directly.
yep, but i'd keep trying. last year, they did it in waves on first preorder day. sucks that color is only available in 32 GB. upon further inspection, that blue is effing gorgeous. it's as vibrant as the red n5. including the case from the google store, that was a quick grand. dang, man.
Geez, they still haven't learned anything. This is exactly like the N6 release. out of stock within minutes. I KNOW that they don't have that many orders.
Marketing. They are trying to mimic Apple and how do you do that? Mirror that same condescending environmental nuance of elitism and exclusivity.
I see zero reason why Joe Public with his Galaxy or his iPhone would be compelled to make this his next phone. They needed to make a splash either with features or price (preferably both). Instead, the features are flat and the price is higher than its direct competitors. Specswise it is comparable if not great, but that isn't enough. This is not how you carve out a space at the top of a very crowded market segment. If nothing else, they should have pushed Pixel as an engine for Google Fi. Most people *hate* their service carrier and are tired of the big 4. Why aren't they pimping this service more? Give people a reason, Google. Work an angle!
yesssssss! google is throwing in a daydream vr headset to preorderers! http://www.droid-life.com/2016/10/04/google-pixel-pixel-xl-now-pre-order/
While I do like the upgrades for the phone and the free Daydream headset, I probably going to pass for now. If they offer some type of Black Friday deal for like $100+ off, I may jump on it. Just doesn't seem like it's much more of an upgrade from the 6P.
