I know this is not related to Brock, but Geno Smith must be really awful to not even be considered replacing Fitz

Haven't INTs trended down with more pass friendly rules? I could be wrong

    You're right.

Plus, why are we justifying Brock's performance by comparing to Fitzpatrick's performance? We should be comparing Brock to the likes of Rivers, Eli, Big Ben, Ryan, etc...since he is getting paid at or above what those guys are making...and since we are hoping he turns out like one of those guys.

Im happy with the team, Im content with the fact that we went after Brock because we needed to make a move, and I do hope and believe that Brock will continue to make strides/improvements. But, thus far, he hasnt played nearly up to par. He has thrown a very good deep ball, so I dont understand why we have backed down from that after firing away the first two weeks of the year.

This is Brock's first season in this system. He's playing with a very bad offensive line right now. We can all thank the injury bugs for that. On the cool we shouldn't be comparing him to any other quarterback right now. Especially not the top tiered quarterbacks.

And for the love of God, can we please stop bringing up what he's making.

I mean, this is important...he's ultimately going to be judged with the value he brings to the table. The same reason Cushing's contract is brought up...in the world where salary cap matters, teams need value to be successful. It's the reason why the Patriots abstain from paying top dollar to position players, because the return on investment is what makes you win or lose in the NFL.

Looking at some twitter stats that got posted, apparently we'll win a lot if Brock stops throwing to DHop LOL!!

But seriously, if Brock to Dhop gets "fixed" man oh man what an offense we'll have.

2017-19 (3 years) Osweiler's cap hit averages $20 million. It's not an average hit to the cap, it's Top 10.

I applaud you for trying to use facts and reason with the sad sacks but it's ultimately futile. They are dead set on being sad and depressed and literally nothing will make them see reason.

If Osweiler craps out...the texans will have spent 37 million on him over two years...18.5 million per year (2016 and 2017). When determining value of a player, this is the number we should be using...not 12 million.

I'd respond with facts and reason, but like I suggested above, it won't help. Let's just move on.

I gave you facts...his guarantee is a big fact and unavoidable. If Brock doesnt improve (which i find unlikely), we pay him 37 million to get rid of him. That's the truth.

Plus if he manages to be average, he probably won't get cut but will still cost us top 10 money.

And in any case, that's short sighted, because we are trying to win now and he's taking up cap room that could have been used in other spots.

If we're assuming that he's gonna get cut, then it's even worse. We wasted 2 years.

What's happening is Brock is throwing to Hopkins when he's about to get sacked. The OL needs to improve from the tackle position.

If we could get Brown back and start chipping whoever Newton is blocking, we may revert back to having a decent OL.

SMH, well I'll give it a shot and see how dug in you are.

If you look at average money per year, Osweiler ranks 18th among QB's between a Tony Romo that is dead and Tyrod Taylor....I know, how awful that we pay a young QB that much money....

He's getting average money, and he's playing like it. QB's are going to continue to get big contracts and by the time Osweiler starts really making big money, it won't be big money anymore by comparison.

Really the ONLY complaint about Brock Osweiler thus far is interceptions, and 5 of the 6 on the year were due to him throwing to Nuk when he shouldn't. That's a chemistry issue which will likely go away over time. He's been awesome when throwing to everyone else....oh and the team is 3-1, the 2nd best record in the NFL.

Honestly to listen to you guys, you'd think the Texans were 1-3 like the rest of the AFC South.

And this is where you lose. He is not playing like an average QB.

    28th in QB rating
    27th in YPA
    23rd in completion percentage
    23rd in yards per game

    These are facts.

Once he starts playing average, then I'll be happy with his contract. A quarter through the season, nobody sane can say that he's been a top 16 QB in the NFL.

He hasn't had a lot of help though. He's had at least 3 TD's taken away either by the WR not catching or bobbling the perfect pass or by the officials deeming a catch a non catch. On top of that, he's had Nuk contribute to at least 3 interceptions by either not running a proper route, allowing a DB to straight up take the ball out of his hands, or by popping up a ball into the DB's hands that would have otherwise just gone to the ground. That's not even mentioning the inconsistent to poor O line or the fact that half of the teams he's played this year have some of the best defenses in the NFL.

Factor everything in and he's doing a fine job for a kid with less than a full season of starts under his belt. If his teammates start pulling their weight better it'll look even better.
