Also, it was really 34-20 game...the refs stole that blocked punt from us. Doesnt mean we dont have issues, but still.
Glad they got the win, but man what an ugly game after the 1st quarter. Coaching was terrible, the clock management and situational awareness was atrocious. Was embarrassing to watch.
also...not sure if BOB addressed this in the postgame...but they started the clock way too early AFTER they took a timeout...Its why OBrien was mad. And yes...thank god that wiped TD wasnt something that wouldve mattered. AJ Bouye...really had a great game. Once again the special teams has some issues. A squib kick that gave the opponent the ball at the 40...Weak kicking by Novak... In ability to give the ball enough hang time on KO. The offense needs to utilize the TE more... They are making plays on routes. Getting them involved may open up the game for DHop...who really has had a rough start to his season. Next week, we will meet the best defense in the NFL...The Vikings will destroy the Texans...if they play the same way they did today...the Patriots showed how to fluster Brock, and Tennessee did a solid job after that 14-0 start...On offense...they really need to look at more screen plays and quick hitting plays off the line. Lots of work to do, but will help getting 76 back...
I will take improvement from last week any day. Our offense was like an old run down car last week sputtering along slowly and not getting anywhere. Special teams was much improved! At least we played better offensively to start. Now we need to keep our offense going. Hopefully we get better each week.
It wasn't pretty, but they got the job done. Moving forward the defense needs to be a LOT better than they were in the first half and the O line protection also needs to be a lot better. That said, it still counts as a win and the Texans now have a 2 game lead over the entire division, something no one else has right now (but the Falcons might have if the Bucs lose).
The thing that makes me hold my judgment on OZ is that everything he is doing is correctable. OL gets fixed and I think he shows better accuracy. He stops forcing the ball to Hop and the turnovers go down. It isn't like this guy can't play. We saw the flash of a good QB today when he was utilizing his TE's. That is what you want to see. Progress on a Titans team that was playing the same coverage New England did against us.
Against 20 other teams, we lose this game. Fortunate to play in the worst division. TNF already deflated the season for me.. Watt's re-injury made it worse. Still hoping for the best. Brock, Clowney, and others can learn and improve.
I agree with that, he's still making some mistakes but overall he's been pretty good. He had 2 picks today, but he completed 67% of his passes and was very good for the most part in the first half despite some REALLY bad O line play. He was certainly "good enough" today, and that's really all we can ask for.
I never understood that. That is simply untrue. The NFL is completely matchup based. That is why you can just never tell. A bad Bills Team just shut out the Patriots who shut us out last week. Things change. End of the day we are 3-1.
You sure the Bills are bad? They beat Arizona and beat a well coached Patriots team. Id say they would have beat us this week if we had played.
There are of examples of mediocre lines developing cohesiveness as the season goes along. They do need Brown back. Brock started getting happy feet once the pressure starting getting to him regularly, and it certainly effected some throws and decision making. Progress is key. I expect this offense to find some consistency once they throw out the junk that isn't working and adapt to what does.
Arizona may not be as good as they think they are. Tends to happen in year 3-4 of the same offensive system.
Bills beat us handily last season, and we were a JJ Pick-6 from losing in '14. Texans have played one good team this season and 3 bad ones.... and coincidentally, we're 3-1.
So the Cheifs are a bad team now because the Texans beat them? The Chiefs blew out the Jets who beat the Bills who shut out the Pats. Perhaps it's difficult determining who the good teams and bad teams are this early in the season, but there's really no reason to think the Chiefs are bad, unless you just want to sell that the Texans haven't beat anyone good.
I'm scared to see what the Vikings D will do to our OL...that's 2 straight weeks where Brock's pocket has collapsed within 1-2 seconds on a majority of plays. Defensively, I expect they will improve - I'm hoping the 1st Half was just a hangover from the Watt news. Offense REALLY scares me. Just incredibly mediocre thus far despite some very talented players, and I think a majority of the blame should be placed on the play calling and the OL. Defenses have already figured out Bill's scheme, and it's time for an adjustment.
