Still about 2 week away. Lots still to be decided. #1 seed is up for grabs in the AL between the Indians, Rangers and Red Sox. AL WC still has several teams in the hunt. The NL still has its WC race between 3 teams -- Giants, Cardinals and Mets. Nationals and Dodgers will play each other. Can't wait for October. Should be fun.
I was hoping the AL East would be decided in the last few weeks between the Os/Jays/Sox but it looks like the Sox are going to pull away. For the WC spots I predict: NL - STL/SF AL - TOR/DET WS prediction: CHI vs TEX (CHI wins in 6)
Cleveland got Cleveland'ed, 2/3 of their playoff rotation is done for the year. That has to be a total kick in the balls after such a good season. Cubs will still find a way to be Cubs. It will be glorious. The Rangers will still be insufferable arseholes. Their loss will also be glorious. Those are my predictions.
Just nauseating. That means one of them would have to win it. It's been said that the cubs 100+ years of failing is possibly the last great story in sports. It would be a shame for it to end. I can't decide if that's more important than dallas getting to claim a World Series before we do. It's really infuriating to think about. My day is now ruined.
There is Houston's (Texans/Oilers) drought of getting to play in the Super Bowl. That's somewhat of a story and it should more nationally than locally for the city.
Giants have looked like utter trash since the All-Star break with the bullpen costing them plenty of games. They're always counted out, but it is an even year and we all know what that means.
The Nationals are really hurting going into the postseason. Supposedly Murphy and Harper should be ready but probably won't be 100%. Ramos tore his ACL so he's out and Strasburg is out also. Dodgers may have it easy.
The Cubs should win it all this year. If this isn't the year then when? They will be good for years to come but it's not every season that you win 102 games and have relatively good health. The only challenge to them should be the winner of the AL especially if it's a team like Boston. I'd love the Indians too except both Salazar and Carrasco are out. And as you've said, the Nationals have been deluged with injuries so they aren't near their best. We will see. Crazy stuff does happen in the playoffs quite often.
The Dodgers are probably the biggest threat in the NL. They have 3 pitchers who have a great breaking ball which is what the Cubs struggle against (Maeda, Urias, and Hill). Other than that, I'd agree Boston is pretty tough team. It''s baseball though so who knows really, we could struggle against a team like the Giants who I don't think is all that great even given their top 3.
Postseason is set. AL 1. Texas Rangers 2. Cleveland Indians 3. Boston Red Sox WC1: Toronto Blue Jays WC2: Baltimore Orioles NL 1. Chicago Cubs 2. Washington Nationals 3. Los Angeles Dodgers WC1: New York Mets WC2: San Francisco Giants
Hoping for a Cleveland/Washington World Series. I can't stand the thought of it possibly being Arlington vs Cubs. Just nauseating to think about.
