Indeed. They were saying, that was the cause of his injury. Some were saying he's out of position.

True, but teams didn't rush out to find DMo or make offers when they had cash.

They spent their money elsewhere. It's not like they couldn't have offered him money when they had space

Primary. Man you are reaching big time. James Harden was the primary reason why we did so well without Dwight.

Dmo and the rest of the role players were the secondary reason.

Let's get real around here sir.

    Bima,

So he stays a RFA, but without a QO? So if DMo does not sign the QO, he could get even less money.

What a game of chicken...I expect him to sign tonight then.

Because if he doesn't we might have a long holdout, a guy in Europe, or a pissed off Rocket that is like this year's JR Smith.

Well he would be stupid to not sign the QO, so this may be over in about 3 hours.

There is an offer from Morey. He can finally accept that, too.

True, but that would be stupid on his part to give Morey leverage in year 2.

Thanks for asking the question. I posted a few pages back the exact text from the CBA that said "A player may not accept a Qualifying Offer after the October 1 following the issuance thereof", hence midnight tonight.

But the very last article in the CBA, page 390 Article XLII "Other" says,

    Section 2.
    Time Periods.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, the specification of any time period in this Agreement shall include any non-business days within such period, except that any deadline falling on a Saturday, Sunday, or Federal Holiday shall be deemed to fall on the following business day.

Clearly states the deadline would be Monday, hence midnight Monday. And that's definitely how the Oct 31st Rookie Scale Team Option deadline works. But how often is Bobby Marks incorrect? :)

It really is weird some people care so much about this guy. Fascinating almost. If he stays he stays if he goes he goes. Hes not going to be dictating our success. Get a grip some of you.

I'm not a CBA expert, but the paragraph you quoted refers to time periods (e.g. "90 days"), whereas the sentence "A player may not accept a Qualifying Offer after the October 1 following the issuance thereof" refers to a specific date (Oct. 1st). Therefore, I would think the deadline is Oct. 1st, not the Monday following Oct. 1st.

Really having a tough time understanding BJ Armstrong's leverage here. He's representing a bench player who averaged 6/3 last year and whose back is so jacked it's already sunk one attempted trade. If we really felt that we needed D-Mo so badly, he'd have the contract that he wants.

Yes, I'm going with tonight, since the title of the clause is "Time Periods." Just pointing it out to show why some of the confusion might have occurred. And that the Oct 31st "deadline" for exercising Team Options does use the following-biz day protocol, per a footnote in Larry Coon's FAQ.
