Serious question: Does Texas even consider a mid-season firing? I wouldn't have thought so and even now don't think it'd happen but with every game outside of Kansas being a very losable game...things are likely to get worse than better IMO.
Strong should not be fired however he needs to fire Bedford tomorrow morning and find a legit defensive coordinator. It's obvious Charlie was working with the defense more at Louisville than he is here. Bedford has been statistically worse than Manny Diez and Diez was fired after the BYU game because the product on the field is not acceptable. The thing that pisses me off about Charlie Strong is that he kept calling the defense an easy fix. This makes him look like he doesn't know what he is doing. I still like him as a team leader but all the coaches the brought with him have been bad. I was very upset when he fired Duane Akina. DBU died that day.
Why are we playing so conservative in the second half ? Where's the deep ball? 18 wheeler is predictable
If we get slaughtered by OU next week, I think Strong could be fired. It's now apparent that's the only game that matters this season, as it has been for years because of our bad teams, and if this happens for the third straight week I can't see the Perrin keeping Strong on when Tom Herman is waiting right there. Strong has never had the support of the biggest boosters and they'll certainly be louder in clamoring for his firing after OU than they ever were in their support. We called for Diaz's firing after BYU and it was justified. Bedford needs to go before he embarrasses this team further against OU.
At that point, the ref needs to whistle the play dead. But even then, how many times have players squirm out of tackles? It's a fine line for sure and crazy how blatant targeting gets missed. Just don't think this was one of those times. I actually don't recall targeting being called more when it was first introduced. There was a lot more focus on those calls since they couldn't reverse the yardage penalty even when the call was reversed.
It's not targeting, period. Defensive players are coached to crush any player being held up. It's universal.

Man, it always seems your definition of a great leader is incomplete. Even more important than getting people to follow you is knowing where to go. Strong doesn't know what to do.
that timeout at the end of the first half to keep osu's drive alive was pretty hilarious. granted, osu basically conceded the drive with a run and our defense sucked and gave up the first down anyway and yes, we could have gotten the ball back for a score, but basically we were just forcing our D to play an extra drive when we didn't have to and damned if it didn't cost us. then we get the ball back and run a screen play for little gain and then run out the half. why risk that play and a possible turnover, especially on a pass, if you aren't going to use your timeouts and try to score? i said i wanted strong fired and it would be a shame to lose the OC, but this is year 3 and he just doesn't seem to have it. stoops, meyer, carroll, tressell. all got it done, as in winning an NC, in their second year.
Really hope this means he's gone before the OU game. I don't want him to get yet another chance after beating a "quality" opponent like OU.
ESPN: Charlie Strong's job safe through season, source says http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...nghorns-make-season-move-coach-charlie-strong
LSU will undoubtedly have a head start in looking for a replacement unless the AD plans on interviewing replacements throughout the season. A guy like Herman isn't going to get anything done until the end of the season. I'd even settle for a guy like Les Miles, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's already talking to another program like USC.
What is this? I thought we had strong boosters. We know the boosters didn't like Strong from the start. Now, they have all the ammo they need. Make it happen, rich p*ssies. My concern is the same as what many of you mentioned - he's going to get enough time to look mediocre enough to make it hard to can him
