Strong trying to decline that penalty is the straw that broke the camels back. Have some self decency about yourself Charlie.
So D.Foreman gets shoved into the wall 8 yards into the endzone. On the next run, he goes down without contact. Glad the refs let that late hit go.
So.... any more people doubting that Strong should be fired? I think the sooner the better so then they can get the evaluation process going early for a new head coach.
I think I know what you're talking about, but that Washington hit should have been targeting. I guess one year of caring about players' health is enough for football. They never call targeting when it clearly should be called - across the board - just because fans don't like the penalty.
It definitely wasn't targeting. A ball-carrier is not defenseless. Players are taught to hit a player hard who's being held up.
That Washington hit wasn't targeting, though. He's a runner after making the catch. He's being spun around twice, the refs didn't blow the whistle so it's still a live play. What made it look worse is the Roach made contact as Washington was spun into him, and Washington got laid out and concussed. It was a legal play.
Then targeting needs to get called anytime a player gets hit above the shoulders. The call gets missed a lot, not sure this was one of those times.
They are beyond awful. They said our kicker's name and he transferred from LSU for OkSt's first extra point. They've said many wrong things and had terrible strategy. And they said Foreman walked in unmolested on a free touchdown. Just lol at how bad they are.
I've had enough of this ****. Get rid of Bedford and Strong. Immediately. They are in over their heads. And I think the players on the field all know it, too. Strong is a quitter. He has no business being the head coach of any major FBS school.
It's time for a corrupt bargain: we let UH into the Big XII and compromise on our plans for a research facility in Houston. In return, we get Herman and Orlando and tell Applewhite to take a hike.
I agree the rule needs to be modified. How can a player with no freedom of motion (he's getting swung around) not be defenseless by the letter of the law? As a general comment though - the first year of that rule, targeting was called all the time - all the time. Everybody b*ched about it, and now they pass on calling it all the time. Don't let the players' health interfere with the quality of entertainment! I blame Strong for the targeting rule too!
