Just hope it's not a career lingering/ending back injury like T-mac's because back injuries are tricky.

But unlike T-mac, I see Watt going 100% during rehab so he should be ready 2017.

IMO gotta put most of the blame on JJ in this instance. When coming back from injury the team goes off of what he says and how he feels. Dude just tried to rush back too quick, trying to be a superhero.

I don't blame the coaches or the organization. You go with what the doctors say, you listen to what the player is saying, and you cross your fingers. The Texans could have held him out for another two or three months and he still could have hurt his back the first time he played. I mean you really have to go with what the doctors say.

Not sure when it happened during the game...but from everything I have heard, he was due to have it bother him at some point...maybe it would have happened later in the year with less snaps, but odds were that he would have issues with it at some point. I guess I'd rather him be out now with a slight chance of return, rather than being out week 8 and definitely missing rest of the season.

Medical reports have also said Watt would never be the same again.

    Is that also true?
What are the chances of injury happening again?
What percentage relative to '12-'15 is his new max-level?

The way things seem now, he shouldn't try to play again this season.

I guess I have to start believing it now because of what has unfolded...but I was distinctly told he would never be the same player again and that his career would be in jeopardy. I initially mentioned it here, but in the back of my mind, I convinced myself that it would be okay. One of the guys I spoke to was a world renowned physical therapist in California named Lenny Parracino. He told me, at the time, that someone gave JJ really bad advice to have that surgery done...he says that he could have fixed that disc without surgery. He said once the surgery was done, he thought JJ's career was going to be over. His motto is "There's no injury that surgery can't make worse". I think the only way JJ has a shot of a long, successful career at this point is to take time off and find the absolute best physical therapist in the world. Im not sure if going back in and doing another surgery is the answer to the problem.

Having nothing to do with JJ, but that statement is complete horsesh!t and it would make me question everything else he has to say.

Lowered for the second time in 5 days.... Thurs was the epitome of Houston sports.

Thinking now, so is Watt's potential demise. Pimp C just had to die young.

Disappointing. I was suspicious before the season started that Watt was being rushed back (and it's partly his own fault).

With that said...I think the Texans defense can still be decent without Watt.

It's actually 100% accurate. That statement doesnt mean that surgery isnt successful...it means that surgery can make things worse. If you can make something better without surgery, it's the safer route to take. In other words, only do surgery when there are literally 0 other options.
