Well that isn't at all shocking, the Texans wasted the prime of the most dominant defensive player in decades. For all that dominance, the mediocre Texans have NOTHING to show for it. Not that it mattered, the Texans were exposed by a third string QB making his first start... on four days ... as a rookie. At some point McNair has to die ..... oh wait that doesn't help because his middle aged son will keep the mediocre franchise on the same track with Rick Smith. What an uninspiring and crappy franchise.
This is a damn shame. When they brought him back, it should have been with a pitch count, something like 20-30-40 plays to let his body adjust to the impact. My back is messed up from doing crazy stuff in the military and I have good weeks and bad weeks now. When it gave out on me in 2007, it took me 6 months to get back to feeling decent again. These guys are supposed to be professionals, how could they let this happen?
Makes you also wonder if it gives an excuse for BOB and the staff to hang around. I like what BOB did despite all the QB carousel but this and that stupid play calling on Thursday have me a little concerned
That's the dumbest goddam thing I've heard all day. The Texans and JJ both share blame on this. His doctors cleared him, he said he felt ok,, could play, the team rushed him back. Perfect storm. Regardless of what happens here on out, I feel lucky to have watched greatness even if it was fleeting. Cesar Cedeno, Carlos Hernandez, Ralph Sampson, etc....
Great news! Texans are better off without this fake tough guy and over-rated loser. Their winning record this season without him speaks for itself. He is a losing empty stats dude aka Cousins
This kinda of stuff happens...when you have an egotistical maniac that has the city by the balls... And NO one that will tell him to sit his a$$ down. Now fortune has taken its course. 100 Million dollar investment...And when you know a player like him who will do everything in his power to act superhuman...it requires grown adult wisdom to tell the kid NO. Cant blame JJ for this recurring...but at some point it was bound to happen. They have JJ going at 300 pound behemoths at full speed with ZERO restrictions. Who the FCK thought that was a good idea???
Slide to the side and back a few times... Then do it again with a fixed fist in one hand.. the opposite leg of the fixed fist will feel differently, like it's stuck ..
yep I think you make a great point. I feel like there are enough guys who play with club hands to get data on the incidence of injury afterwards, and especially after multiple weeks of it.
For all of those blaming the staff...or even Watt. As soon as he had his injury, I posted several times about the injury and the surgery, from sources that know their ****. Every single one of them told me that he would basically never be the same player. His re-injury could have occurred in week 8 if he sat and came back in week 6. The timeframe of when he came back is kind of irrelevant here. He was healthy when he started practicing. The issue is the grueling nature of the position he plays. This was going to happen at some point...and I made several attempts over the course of the offseason to let it be known to have worst case scenario in mind when discussing JJ.
That post was intended on being a rhetorical question...The jest of my post was to state that it requires one of these guys to have the courage to tell HIM no... There is a real possibility his back will never be right again. Perhaps it is time to consider if he should start playing another position...If his vision is to continue to be a dominant Lineman...we will never see it again and what a shame that would be.
From everything I've heard, re-injury was not thought to be a serious concern. Re-aggravation was thought to be inevitable if he didn't take it easy, but not full on re-injury. JJ has to learn how to chill a bit
This is when the rest of the defense needs to step there game up and play like they belong in the league.
