[Calvin Watkins] Harden named starting point guard

I read this and for a second thought Feigen was calling Harden "points" as a new nickname, given MDA used the phrase "points guard."

 

Smart move - this will get Harden passing earlier the ball will be less sticky.

Part where MDA says Harden won't have to wrestle with people just to get the ball really stood out for me. It was so depressing when Harden would just give up when someone didn't let him get the ball after first try. Glad to see MDA spent ton of time watching tapes and figuring out how to improve the team. I might be a wishy washy person, but looking back it's kinda funny how we all wanted a defensive head coach when we have the best offensive player in the world. To make Harden play defense you gotta satisfy him on offense. Not other way around. Morey is a genius and I won't doubt him ever again.

Feels a little crunched with a 10 man rotation, but I don't see how to shrink it. All 4 of your bigs need 20 minutes per, and Harden, Gordon and Beverley are going to get the lion's share of the guard minutes.

 

guys like pablo, ennis, dekker, kj aren't guarantees for consistent minutes night in and night out at the moment

 

Harden brought it up a ton last season, but I'm not sure I like the idea of him doing it all the time. I fear that it will fatigue him even more than he was last year and it will make it easier for teams to get it out of his hands more quickly. He already has to create pretty much everything offensively, having him bring it up all the time will only add to his workload.

 

Harden has always been the pg, they just made it official...

Wow, how does Calvin Watkins listen to that interview and walk away to write an ESPN article titled "James Harden changes positions"

Morey is right...that's just click bait, and it will be focus of ESPN talk on Harden for Now Clutch and Feigen are wasting their time on Twitter downplaying that take by Watkins, when they could be addressing other actual news and video interviews.

 

Two things:

• why is Bill Worell still around? Wasn't he supposed to be laid off?
• it's surprising that the team has not talked defense, and who will Harden defend.... NOT!

 

Calvin Watkins works for BSPN which is anti-Houston unless it comes to the astros or jj watt

 

Ty Lawson didn't work out because he was bad at basketball.

Hasn't it always been like this? Bev definitely needs to start now to guard the opposing PGs

 

Morey told Bev that if he shot 40% from 3 he would be called a SHOOTING guard. Hence the Harden position change....
