That article says nothing about BLM. In fact, people were chanting All Lives Matter, which to my understanding is considered racist by Black Lives Matter. So I guess there was a difference in the behavior of both groups. I stand corrected.

Mike Ditka tells Colin Kaepernick where he can go.

    Right on, Mike.

Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you, Colin. Of course that also goes for anyone else who agrees with Kaepernick, too.

Freedom of speech is reserved for those who agree with your definition of it.

Good to see Ditka using his freedom of speech to speak out against Kap and the rest of the idiots who are trying to politicize the national anthem.

This is what happened during Occupy and I'm guessing opposition will sandbag talks of reform till winter (if ever) and see whether the movement will collapse like Occupy or metastasize into something more violent.

I'm hoping regional leadership is much more coordinated and organized because grassroots these days have far more scrutiny and challenges to survive.

The best outcome at this point is to merge the goals of different populist movements over the years and start rebuilding faith in the system and the process. Of course, no one would be happy or completely satisfied if that happened.

LOL... applauding the "freedom of speech" of someone who is suggesting those people he disagrees with shouldn't express their freedom of speech. Not surprising.

And "politicizing" the national anthem? I suppose people who think flags with confederate markings are "politicizing" those flags too? The fact that the national anthem contains the verses it does, and is written by someone that did own slaves and oppose emancipation should be "politicized."

Yet another poster who doesn't understand what "freedom of speech" is.

I have nothing against people taking a knee or raising a fist. However, I don't see this as actually doing anything to address the issues that cause such "harassment" by the police. Taking a knee is not the beginning of the end of the high-incarceration rate among black Americans.

Report: Protesters planning to block entrances at Panthers stadium

Thanks Kaepernick. Football Sunday used to be the one place we all could escape the real world for a couple hours and everyone could get along.

    Used to be.

This is such an unbelievably ignorant comment I really don't know where to begin.

You don't seem to know what freedom of speech means first of all. There's nothing wrong at all with someone saying that the manner another is expressing themselves is disrespectful and wrong.....especially when they are right. Learn what the freedom of speech means and you'll understand that.

You don't seem to know what is actually in the National Anthem (hint not all of the Star Spangled Banner is in the National anthem)

The fact that someone owned slaves back then means literally nothing and is pretty desperate emotional argument when you have nothing of substance to rely on.

The National Anthem as a sports tradition basically started because people were depressed about WWI. Became ubiquitous around WWII. It was a political message of defiance (towards England) that was appropriated as a message of united defiance towards (mostly) Germany in times of war. Kap has now started a mini movement of athletes being defiant towards a song tradition that once represented military defiance but now represents established tradition. The singing of the song at sporting events had the most meaning to the most people at times when people like Kap couldn't vote or eat at certain restaurants, etc. Shockingly, it has a different meaning to him.

You say that, but we don't even know for a fact that he's black at all. Sure that's what his mom says, but she's kept the identity of his father a secret from everyone, for all we know his father could have been Osama Bin Laden. He has no roots or ties to the black community and he grew up in a privileged white family. His BS is just a publicity stunt, and it worked.

Regardless of whatever fantasy origin story you want to propose he:
    A. Looks black and thus would have been treated as black in 1920, 1940, 1960, etc.
    B. Is doing this as a stance for treatment of black Americans. Plenty of whites were civil rights activists in history and what they did was in no way irrelevant because they weren't black. So even if he was 100% Irish and decided to kneel for the national anthem it would be for the same cause/dialogue.
    C. My point was rally about all professional athletes who deal with the anthem however many hundreds of times in their lives. It does not have the meaning for them as for a bunch of white people in the stands watching the Red Sox in 1919.

LOL "fantasy origin story"? I'm telling you exactly the truth kiddo.

    A. He doesn't look black, which is why he's gone out of his way to try and change his hair to corn rows and bring black friends with him to try and siphon off their credibility.

    B. No, he's not, he's doing this as a publicity stunt, and it worked because there are plenty of gullible and stupid people out there.

    C. As Americans, it should. If it doesn't, that is a "them" problem. It certainly isn't the case with all black people, just a small group that are assholes. I guess this points to a problem with a separatist sub-culture which really shouldn't be accepted.

Wow, I am SO stupid not to know that Osama Bin Laden was Kap's daddy! Thank you for educating me. I am stupid. You clearly are not.

....if that's what you took away from what I said, then yeah, there's a good chance that you are pretty stupid. Perhaps try harder in the future.

So you wrote that for all we know OBL could be his daddy. I responded that it didn't matter whatever fantasy origin story you wanted to make up, he looks dark and even if he was white it wouldn't matter. You respond, "'fantasy origin story'? It is the truth you big dumb idiot" and I responded that I didn't really know OBL was his daddy and not a fantasy origin story. So what didn't I take away correctly? I am trying to try harder now that it is the future.

He really doesn't look dark. My point is that we don't know his origins for a fact, and neither does he. Anyway, I see now that you have reading comprehension problems, so I'll try to break things down for you Barney style in the future.

What matters is that he's a privileged white kid taking advantage of stupid people and using them for publicity.

Explain how you think I am. You don't really have anything to go on, so this should be amusing.
