Mike Reiss‏ @MikeReiss At this time, the Patriots are not expected to have QB Jimmy Garoppolo in uniform for tonight's game, per source.Sep 22, 2016, 10:58 AM
Vegas line movements are all over the place with this...lots of money going towards the Pats. WTF. Third string QB...probably no Gronkowski...and facing a Texans team that just beat KC and is looking to be a legit squad. Makes no sense.
Knowing the Pats, this will be the first glimpse of their next 14 year elite QB starter. It would be just the luck of a texans fan that Brissett comes out balling
Rob is a game time decision. He wants to play and has been telling his teammates that he wants to start
^^^^ This...the line moving this much makes me worried about tonight's game. As it wasnt already hard enough to beat the Cheatriots at foxboro...
Concerned that the Pats will go with a lot of quick routes tonight, which will keep us from getting consistent pressure. I also don't think we'll be able to match up with Edelman, Amendola, Bennett and Gronk (if he plays). Hope I'm wrong, but going with Pats 20-16.
If we arent able to beat the Patriots under these conditions, we are far off from being legit. If our defense has issues here, that would make me a sad fan.
Pats are close to unbeatable at home and our offense is still experiencing growing pains. Lots of new faces plus a patchwork O-line. If I was a betting man, I would say pats 20 Texans 13. I sure hope I'm wrong!
I'm expecting a very tight game. I feel that it will be turnovers that will determine the fate of the losing team. Os must be careful with his reads as the Pats will be looking to bait him into throwing interceptions.
Patriots will have some trick plays tonight. I expect to see some offensive sets by the Patriots that human eyes have yet to see and fans will question if it's a legal play.
quick routes require an accurate QB and Brissett is likely not that guy in his first start of his career. If it was Brady yeah he'd demolish us like he always does.
I was in Vegas for the last 4 days, and it was bizarre watching the line fluctuate. I put $350 on the Texans at -1, and I honestly wish I had put more. I have no idea what's going on with bettors, but the unabashed confidence in Belichick might be a little unwarranted for tonight. I hope I'm not forced to eat my words, but I am pretty confident the Texans win by a touchdown.
The Texans need to score some TD's when they get in the red zone. A bunch of field goals may not be enough to win.
I would expect a lot of short routes tonight and a VERY simplified playbook that will still have maybe one or two trick plays. I'm hoping the Texans DB's can jump a few routes and take it to the house.
Yeah, certainly consistent pressure is the best way to disrupt an opposing QB. But if you know there will be a lot of quick route coming, the Texans seem better positioned than maybe ever in their history to still get some pressure, without bringing any extra guys. So that will all come down to coaching and game calling. Can't just do simple coverages. Need to mix it up for the rookie QB. And do bring blitzes that are well timed, just don't make it the gameplan out the gate to bring a bunch of people on those first couple of drives in an attempt to shake Brisset or something. Got to think Bill B. isn't going to put him in positions to get rattled like that.
