no. The NFL did punish ray rice and micheal vick. Kapernick has not been punished. Ray Lewis was never convicted and therefore not punished. Ben settled out of court on one and was not convicted on the other. Really really dumb graphic.

 

I was thinking today I bet the NBA and the teams have warned NBA players about doing something like this. I hope they do it anyway.

Apparently Sideshow lucked into being a starter on a good team, got exposed and struggled to make a roster, before jumping into the Malcolm X rhetoric without a plan.

Did it work?

As a selfish method of survival, it worked.

Outside of that, it hasn't. And as all educated blacks know, it won't. This pisses them off. The police brutality and racial inequality discussion isn't new. Nothing is being opened for discussion that hasn't been discussed in the past. Did Tupac and Biggie change anything by saying **** the Popo? It gets people angry, gets them talking more than usual, but nothing changes. Historically, nothing has ever changed using that approach.

Until African American's address the mass incarceration rates within their communities and stop blaming the Popo for being vigilant as a result, nothing WILL change. This is a cultural issue - denial only makes things worse and will never have the "opposing" side take you seriously.

I don't care if these people stand, sit, or dance a jig during the anthem. What is annoying is that the press won't shut up about it. When I watch a game, I'm watching to see sports being played, not to hear the commentators talk about who is doing what during the anthem.

 

That's why they're doing it during games. Because most people are busy playing/watching games while this very real issue persists.

The legal system has not corrected this issue, and so it has to spill out now. You should be mad that the appropriate avenues for solving these problems are useless. In a democracy, you are responsible for things like that. The issues being discussed here are more important than these games.

Whatever anyone thinks they pay to enjoy the game experience, they have not paid more than the subjects of these protests.
