How many titles have the Rangers and Mavericks won in franchise history combined?
    1?

And how many titles have the Cowboys won since the Texans came into existence?

Scratch that, how many playoff wins have the Cowboys had in the past 20 years?

All these Dallas fans are full of themselves.

    Since his promotion? Really?

TBH, didn't watch the game... but was surprised Giles was slated to be in there after him working 2 innings the night before, and generally has been thrown out there on a very frequent basis (leads the entire staff in games pitched).

Then again, you have to have your best possible options available in a 1 run game in the 9th vs your division rival in a game you have to win. Still not 100% clear why he had to throw 2 inning the night before, not that fatigue in any way affected his ability to get the Rangers to strikeout.

I've always maintained that the fact that he's able to have as much success as he has, while being still very raw, is actually a plus going forward. Mental hiccups, mechanical hiccups, and having catchers that can block his wicked stuff... all have contributed. Still rather have him going forward for 4 more years than not.

So, what was the deal with the drunk guy escorted out? Did he just start screaming "F THE RANGERS!" from his seat before they dragged him away? LOL. Seems like maybe he was calling out the wrong team's name there? And, what's this about fans throwing trash at Gomez? Get a grip, Astros fans! It's the players who have to live all off-season with their embarrassing play against the Rangers. They've embarrassed themselves in this rivalry. They know it. It should drive them going forward. But, it might not be in the direction we want.

Yeah, I'm baffled by the way Astros fans on twitter and at games have treated Gomez. Doesn't deserve that at all.

I will say on twitter, Astros fans might be the most delusional crowd other than Cowboys fans. It's really amazing...at least the Cowboys have a history to point to.

it's ridiculous how we can't beat this team. it's gotten to the point where it's not that they're better than us anymore, but it's all mental now. Rangers are our daddies.

As long as the Rangers are winning and being respectful about it, you just have to tip your cap to the better team. But, if they start coloring their post-game comments making fun of the situation...then they will have crossed a line.

I also have to give credit to the Astros players for not losing their cool about it during games...as bad as the situation is. But, it does feel kind of like a tinder box waiting on a lit match for some brawl to happen. I hope that doesn't happen to where the Astros are the bad guys...because they've embarrassed themselves enough with their play. All I'll say is it could be worse. We could have zero wins against them this season.

Last, that doesn't mean I'm watching any more of these games between the two...until the Astros either win two in a row or a series. I've suffered enough. I'll keep an eye out here or at the box scores, though, for these games to see what happens.

Sometimes, a team just owns you. There's no logical reason why...they just do. I remember back in the old NL West days, we could not beat San Diego for some reason. It seemed to go on for years. The Pads just owned us. Then, IIRC, it was the Rockies for a while. Just couldn't win against them for no reason whatsoever. Even as they were just in their infancy.

This season just isn't going to work out as we hoped. Started off with too many players who were expected to perform at a high level...not doing that. Now, it's too many injuries. A healthy Valbuena, Keuchel, and McCullers changes things. Maybe not enough to have won the division but certainly enough to be leading the Wild Card race. Even still, we're going to be good for a long time. I'm at peace with this season effectively being over.

"CHEWY, GET US OUT OF HERE!" - Han Solo

Barring some miracle run at the end here, I'm ready for it to end as well. We teetered out for many reasons...mainly because we are a young team who is light on payroll, we've had a lot of pitching injuries with rookies taking over, players don't want to be traded to us (right...Luhnow?), and because we have inconsistent hitting throughout the lineup. Even so...we're still on a good path for the future. But, I still see it being a few years down the road. I still think we are in rebuilding mode even if Astros management wants us to believe we are in win now mode.

Aww, looks like I made someone mad with this seemingly innocuous comment. Appreciate the rep points, though!

What a sissy that poster is. Put your name to it if you're going to call someone out. And what a strange post to react to.

I'm not really sure what you're saying here. Anyways we aren't going to agree on Giles.

As far as being cheap? Absolutely. He makes half a million this season and is in club control for the next 4 I believe. What was considered a hefty price tag at the time has shown, so far, not to be all that much. It's basically a straight up Velazquez for Giles trade. Obie is a non factor and Eshelman isn't exactly tearing up the minors. The funniest part is your former #1 draft pick Appel, has barely played, and at this point is no lock to even make the big show.

Giles contract is low and the trade we made to get him was probably fairly equal. So yeah cheap is a good word.
