It's over....IF he catches the ball, that's the reason why his struggles with drops can be such a problem. When his poor hands cost the team a potential TD, it'll be annoying and I think it's a safe bet to assume that'll happen at least once this season. Of course, he'll be a benefit to the team based on his speed alone and the threat that maybe he will catch it.
Heard it here first. Seriously tho, if all that happens, Im buying a lottery ticket and will be tagging that post.
The Fuller drops are so ridiculously blown out of proportion, it hurts my eyes. Yes, he drops the ball...just like Brandon Marshall, Demaryius Thomas, Julian Edelman...
You're right about the b-ball analogy (Maybe batting avg instead of "OBP" woulda worked. Ive been out the game a while and was trying hard to look "cool" by leaving out "regular" BA for effectiveness and failed LOL) Im not sure about his drop zones. I havent heard him called "stone hands" at its extreme, its mostly been "hands issues" (one in the same maybe?) I think when a player gets the bad hands label, its when they are wide open but drop with little or no traffic, or they drop routine short throws. I made a theory that its Fuller getting open so good deep, that probable drops of open deep balls were etched in people's minds, when if it was other routes it wouldnt be as noticable. I want to think that Fuller is the type that will put a couple on the ground once in a while, but then make up for it cuz he can still do receivery things. Unlike a Darrius Heyward-Bey who's all straightline speed but no useful skills past that
A lot of people seem to think Fuller is just a speedster, but the kid is a great route runner as well. Those coaches at ND do a great job pounding in fundamentals into their players.
His TDs this preseason were reminiscent of his ND days. QB throws a bomb and it looks like Will and CB are neck-and-neck.. and then Fuller just leaves him in the dust. I hope Brock learns to throw the ball as far as he can and let Will go get it... he seemed to be waiting on a few this preseason.
Overheard some fans in Denver talking about their fantasy teams. They expect Fuller to beast. Hope his hands improve.
He's fine with his hands the way they are, as long as you temper expectations. He's a explosive complimentary receiver. Just don't throw it to him 15 times a game. Give it to him 5 times and let him scare the pants off of safeties around the league. He is a "fleet in being".
Could have easily gotten 200 yards today. Gotta live with the drops. Houston, we have a home run hitter.
