I didn't think Gomez would improve but I certainly wasn't expecting 2 HRs and 7 RBIs in 7 games. Yes I know there are a bunch of 0fers in between, the grand slam just caught me by surprise.

RBI's are more a product of circumstance. The rangers are a better team and generate more base runners than the astros.

    Rangers - 1236 hits + 367 BBs + 58 HBP = 1661

    Astros - 1152 hits + 485 BBs + 42 HBP = 1679

    Fixed.

Since CS essentially erases hits, I put that in there also. Your point is still valid though.

You could make the case that GDP erases a hit extra hit also.

Need to break down those hits to single vs. XBH ones.

    Can't compare them 1:1

Slugging % between the two teams should settle that.

None of that was what I was responding to. xcrunner said the Rangers generate more base runners than the Astros do. The Astros have put more runners on base than Texas. What happens to those runners after they reach base is another story.

Texas generates more runs than Houston and has more total bases, but Houston has had more runners touch first base safely (unless the Rangers have reached via error an inordinate amount of time more than the Astros) without an out being made.

    PAs
    Astros - 5245
    Rangers - 5144

    Good point along with CS.

Any DP or out on advance attempts would erase a runner.

    Astros - .421 - 9th in AL

    Rangers - .437 - 4th in AL

Also, the Astros' wretched strikeout-totals kill them.

    Astros - 1232 - AL leader

    Rangers - 1025 - 10th in AL

    Can't advance runners with Ks.

Does not negate the fact that the Rangers have not had more base runners than the Astros.

    The following statement was made:

"The rangers are a better team and generate more base runners than the astros."

They may advance more runners than the Astros. They score more than the Astros. They may not have as many thrown out as the Astros. They have more total bases than the Astros. They have a better average, OBP, SLG and OPS than the Astros, but they DO NOT generate more base runners than the Astros.

You'd also need to analyze which spots in the lineup are these base runners generated from. With the Astros, I suspect the majority of the production is coming from the very unbalanced 1-4.

The Rangers probably have their production more evenly distributed. Which would echo the point that Gomez will probably see more RBI situations batting 8th with Texas, vs batting 8th with the Astros.

**** tard hit 2 home runs today. Close to matching his home run total with the Astros after only 16 games as a ranger. What a piece of ****.

Direct your ire at the Astros hitting coaches. Gomez has shortened his swing since joining the Rangers.
