new AL rule, you can advance on a foul ball.
add insult to insult, hinch got tossed and didn't even get to kick some dirt on the fatty ump.

Calls this bad, that cause 2 runs to score wrongly (and occur right in front of the freaking umpire), did not happen. Umps got together and typically got it right.

Replay has made them all accountable... And also made them all lazier. Some have even admitted that they don't feel the need to see every HR or foul ball with the surest of eyes as they know they can get it reviewed if needed.

    Lol dude .

Watch the play again . After the ball is fouled Castro turns around in protest . After it becomes clear that Joyce isn't going to call it a foul he should go scramble for it . Instead he just stands there dumbfounded and he lets the run score . If Joyce hadn't called time then 3 runs would have scored . At what point can it be expected that Castro takes matters into his own hands and play on.

I don't understand how he can just call timeout in the middle of the play? Nothing at all makes sense about that situation least of all just giving them 2 runs.

Oh, that's right....he cried in the post game press conference, so all is forgiven. Will he bust out some tears today too?

Can anyone show a replay of the wild pitch? Gametracker is putting up video highlights of that play.

You're right, he probably could have prevented the other run. But when it's an obvious foul ball and the ump is standing there with his dick in his hands most people in the heat of the moment react the way Castro does. It's easier to say just go after it when you're watching it on tv after the fact. This is on the MLB and the umps at the game.

Hopefully he'll bust out some tears...after losing his job. Straight up if I continued to make errors like this at my job I'd be canned. I get umpiring is hard and mistakes happen but they happen a lot more when you are 60 years old and trying to follow a 95 mph heater.

I don't see how after they all huddled they couldn't make the educated "guess" that it was a foul ball. they were guessing either way. why not use the fact that the batter, catcher, and entire silent stadium's cues made it almost a certainty that the ball hit his bat.

Bases loaded for Cleveland and there's a 1-2 count. Paulino throws a ball short of the plate and it bounces and the better checked swung and the ball hit the bat and went foul. Ump called it a wild pitch and two runners scored.

Also, if Castro runs after the ball it makes it less likely any of the umpires in the field overturn it because it makes it look like Castro thought it didn't hit the bat. I mean like I said the ball FLEW after hitting the ground, common sense alone should have guided the umpires there.

I'm sure Nick will as soon as he figures everything out.

I want to take a step back and thank Nick for everything he does on the Astros game thread.

    Go Astros!

Bases loaded 2 strikes, 2 outs. Ball bounced in dirt then (clearly) off of Chisenhalls bat and into foul play. Ump (none of them apparently) were paying attention, heard the ball off the bat, whatever, and let runners start running home as if it was a wild pitch. Somehow during this, while the 2nd runner was on his way home, Joyce put his hands up to halt play.

Umps convened but play was unreviewable, and they decided not to change it without replay.

2 runs scored. Hinch got calmly ejected.
