20 meters? you're going to have people breaking their phones. you're thinking of samsung and their ip68 rating.

ip67 is good enough for most. 1 meter submersions for 30 mins. good on apple for finally doing this.

Any pics of the phone? That video didn't show much. No more home button if I'm not mistaken...

As long as people can use it in a pool/beach or even in the shower (for the crazies who cant be without their phone for 2 seconds) then it looks like they got it covered.

I think the home button is there.

They're talking about ditching the 3.5 now. "The courage to move on" lol

    water proofing is great.

I miss the days of being able to throw someone in the pool without worrying about their phone ;).

Don't like the removal of the headphone jack...

Maybe so. Either way it could lead to extra cost I guess.

The pool yes but not the beach. Saltwater will absolutely wreck any phone. Really, I'm not sure any phone should ever go near the ocean. I've seen people do it but you have to thoroughly wash the phone and hope none of the salt hangs around because your phone casing will corrode pretty quickly.

I feel like all of this is "news" we heard 6 months ago but people in the thread are acting surprised. The airpod case/charger thing looks cool but like everyone said when the news broke you will instantly lose one of those things. Hopefully single pod replacements are cheap.

Is the 3.5mm jack fo Apple the same as the home button for Microsoft?

So, they are going to remove the headphone jack and provide an adapter with the phone purchase to use the lightning jack with wired headphones? Are they planning on providing wired headphones with the phone still? I'm guessing no and they prefer you buy/use bluetooth-enabled ear buds or phones.

Not really. Apple isn't even the first to remove it. Lenovo already beat them to it with the Moto Z. But they should include an adapter like Lenovo did.

I think USB Type C was a gamechanger on this front as other smartphones now also have a power port that can transmit audio now (and with better quality). Apple has had that for a while with lightning but now that its clear that the industry is moving to USB-C, I think Apple felt comfortable in trying to ditch the headphone jack (with the opportunity to upsell their wireless headphones)

Start button for Microsoft literally ruined the most common method of interacting with a Windows device.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but all this talk about 3.5mm jack has me wondering if any of y'all regularly use Bluetooth headphones.

Obviously the sound quality won't be the same, but is it passable for working out? How's the battery life?
