Hmm I started when I was about 13 (like 5 hours a week in high school?), then took some classes for a few weeks in a Scottish monastery when I was 16 and kept taking regular classes in high school until my high school graduation. Then I lived in Houston for a year when I was 23-24. That's it, I think. I still have a German accent when I speak, too. (Some girls pretend to like it.)

Not only because of your competence, but I have always marveled how you don't seem to have any quirks in your English writing (and I assmue speaking) that non-natives, no matter how fluent, generally have. Not necessarily incorrect, just not commonly used, etc.

Why are two biggots even the nominees of the two major parties?

 

To the extent that they have any flaws it's a reflection of the public, or at least their priorities. But neither of them is categorically racist, one is a lot more sheltered, entitled, reckless, exploitative and status-conscious than the other. The jerk who started the thread and the jagoff who idiotically bumped it are far worse.

 

It was insensitive to be sure, and certainly not something Indians would find funny. But it's a far cry from bigotry and it's ironic that bigtexxx would cry about this because he has been far more offensive regarding Indians in some of his posts. It's just so hypocritical it's sad.

I disapprove of racist comments towards Indians and those of Indian descent. Most of the ones in my family and those I have encountered are genuine, decent people.

Ghandi.....his views on people of African descent were warped. So yea....never been a big fan of his.

 

Keep in mind that was a very young Gandhi in South Africa and that his views changed much later in his life when he fought for universal equality of man.
