O'Brien also drafted Mumphery, so saying it's anti O'Brien to like my Mumph doesn't make much sense. I'd like to see breakdown of reps. Fuller has passed strong, and seems like Miller has too. I think mumph is better too, just my opinion. Shorts sucks though even though some posters said he and Nate were great backups. I was also very high on Fuller despite all the trolling on his "small" hands
Fuller won't be as useful inside the redzone. I'm not high on strong personally either so I don't want to spend a lot of time defending him
The putting himself in a bind is an argument that can have a little merit. Although, there is always the counter argument of what else could he have done? About the only thing he could have done, from a talent standpoint, to not be in so much of a bind, was to keep Fitzpatrick for a second year. He could have drafted Bridgewater or Bortles, yes, but neither were technically available for us (I still maintain Bortles was a reach, and would have been a huge reach at one, especially with Clowney and Mack on the board). As far as Carr goes, yeah, a lot of people see him as the one that got away, but deep down, we all know the stories of Daddy Carr telling the Texans not to draft him have at least a little bit of credence. On top of that, I don't think McNair would have let it happen. O'Brien gets dogged for putting himself in a bad spot at times, but those are the people that want to call Strong a bust already. The fact of the matter is, during the O'Brien regime, every time he's seen talent he's wanted, he's gone out and got it, whether it be traded or free agency. He took a chance on Osweiler, but he got the player he wanted. Nix was a huge miss, but he took a chance. Strong was supposedly plan B after Lockett (both of whom look fairly promising, although the Lockett pick would have been huge). On top of that, this draft speaks volumes for the guy going out and acquiring the talent he wants or needs. Either he's growing as a talent evaluator, or maybe he's just had few opportunities and a couple near misses along the way.
I mean, I get that you are trying REALLY hard to troll, but you're doing such a feeble job of it that it barely registers. Perhaps if you try a bit harder or actually have some legit material then you'll get the response you are so thirsty for.
Individually you don't need to fault O'Brien for passing on a QB in the 2014 or 2015 drafts, or for signing cost effective stop gaps the past two years. But in aggregate, if you hire a new coach and he doesn't commit to a potential franchise QB over his first three seasons then that's on him. That's why the Osweiler signing was such a big move, because it represented the first sign of commitment from this organization to actual championship caliber football. At the same time, everyone knows, O'Brien included, that this is now on his head. How Osweiler does will determine how history remembers his tenure as Houston's head football coach. Let's hope it works out and he gets a chance for multiple, long tenures with franchise QB's.
I can get behind that point. What excites me, though, is that this is the first year we'll actually see his brand of football. As he's finally tied his name to a QB, I think he's stamped his name, through and through, on this whole team.
Is it possible that Shorts being cut could open up the door for a contract extension for Hopkins before the season starts? Hopkins is now the only receiver with 3+ years of experience. I would think we'd try to look down him to solidify the WR corps moving forward.
Just didn't think it was feasible keeping only two QB's with our history and this line. Weeden is a good 3rd string QB to have in case Osweiler goes down and Savage is the starter.
I don't see it making a difference. His contract was small, took a paycut Hopkins should get an extension next year

Anyway, lol at Sean jones saying camp and pre season don't matter rosters are set. Currently three undrafted free agents have made the Texans 53. Maybe the reason he doesn't have s front office job anymore is because he is apparently stupid about evaluation.
