Gurriel in at 1b for fat boy. WTF took them this long to make that move? I swear this team is so late in reacting.
going to start narcos. say what you want about pablo but he managed to pay faustino asprilla and iguita to play for his favorite club. What have you done, Mr. Crane? tough game to watch. we will need a sweep of the indians.
Gattis is what he is, mainly a big swing HR guy but I don't think Springer is being developed well. Springer's approach at the plate sucks.
Springer is what he is.... 26 years old and all averages surprisingly consistent throughout his 3 years.
Springer is never going to be a consistent .300 hitter probably but like I've said many times about him, he should at least be hitting what Correa is hitting now. He strikes out way too much to be in the lead off spot and I just feel that big swing of his has been allowed by the organization for way too long. I do feel Springer is over hyped by the fan base but I believe he is a better hitter than what he is showing so far in his career.
.800+ OPS with GG caliber defense is nothing to scoff at (especially on THIS team). He draws walks and hits for decent power. He and Correa were neck and neck in the OPS category for most of the year. It really doesn't matter what particular order you batt these guys in... provided they all get as many AB's during a game as possible. He is exactly who he is... a solid WAR player. It seems you may have overhyped him and are now disappointed with the results... and now are disappointed that he's overhyped.
People were slapping the 5 tool label on him early on. His running tool this year has been bad with the caught stealing issues. Solid is a good label to put on him but that's about it.
He's a border-line all-star.... literally. Not sure if anybody is hyping him up to be more than that. That being said, 26 year old +OPS/GG defenders that make the bare minimum in salary aren't all that abundant. Also, to be a 5 tool guy, you have to hit for a good average... so again, I don't believe anybody knowledgeable was truly hyping him up as much as you claim. The biggest knock on him was his ability to stay healthy... now that he has, he's started to put up the cumulative numbers (HR's, RBI, WAR) that you see with a full year's worth of games.
