Seahawks went undefeated in preseason the year they won the Super Bowl. Ultimately it doesn't mean anything.
Granted but, uhm... doesn't your example sorta undermine your point?... Just seemed like a weird one to pick - I'm sure there are lots of 0-fers or undefeated preseason teams that won/lost once it counted that would have been better examples than, "Seahawks went undefeated and won the Super Bowl - see? Preseason means nothing."
He simply means anything can happen during the preseason and that it has no relevance to the actual season. I mostly agree with it, though I believe there is a lot you can discover during the preseason.
Cowboys backups are really bad. I would cut the whole lot of em if possible. Showers played himself out of a job in my book. Too bad.
My point was that most people show the examples of teams winning in pre-season and not doing anything as proof of some bad omen when you win in the pre-season. The poster before me mentioned the Lions going undefeated in the pre-season the year they went 0-16. A lot of people will point to the Colts glory years and how badly they performed in the pre-season. I'm showing the opposite in the pre-season to demonstrate that the record doesn't matter. What matters in the pre-season is what you learned about your players and I think we learned a lot of good things. We didn't go 4-0 because we were out there scheming our way to victory.
I understand that, and I know justtxyank is a highly-competent poster. But Seattle going 4-0 in the preseason and then winning the Super Bowl is NOT an example of the preseason having no relevance on the actual season.
Please take the example in context. Detroit went 4-0 in the preseason and went 0-16 in the season. Seattle went 4-0 in the preseason and won the Superbowl. Preseason records are not predictive despite the usual drumbeat that winning in the preseason is actually a bad thing. You will hear on talk radio, I'm sure for example that Sean Jones & Adam Clanton + Chronicle John Lopez will make fun of them today for going 4-0 in the preseason.
I called it. Sean jones making fun of the Texans for going 4-0. Trying too hard to win he says like trying to date a hooker.
