That's the problem--some people see it as a joke. This view is borne out of ignorance, and I'm sick of it. I see it all the time. A lot of obese people bring it on themselves, so I get why it's so often a punchline. But there is a huge difference between T1 and T2, and too many people do not realize this. You wouldn't joke about hodgkin's lymphoma. So, yeah, I don't see why joking about diabetes is any better. My best friend's father died from T1D complications. It is a terrible disease, one which I battle daily. I don't expect you to understand what I go through, but I expect you to be smart enough to not make a ****ing mockery out of an eviscerating condition.
You mean the same Deshields that they just picked up Carlos ****ing Gomez to replace? That Deshields?
We also suffered from having incompetence outside of Springer/Altuve/Correa, so it wasn't just merely out-hitting Jake. He had to be marginally better and be a consistent bat for us. The Rangers have capable hitters 1-9, so he literally only has to outplay whoever is out there in LF.
And you seem to be ignorant about Type 2 Diabetes. Type 2 is not always the result of obesity. It is inherited. People can prevent it it they can only treat it Diabetes snob.
You do realize that the Rangers got Gomez to replace Deshields, right? The Rangers view Gomez as a potentially better option than Delino DeShields to help them fill the outfield void left by Shin-Soo Choo's season-ending forearm injury. And as far as Jake/Delino OPS goes, Delino couldn't catch a cold if he had a glove on both hands. He is a terrible fielder anywhere but DH.
Honest question: other than Bill Murray, Robert Randolph and Eddie Vedder, is there a cubfan on earth who's not worthless? There has to be at least a couple more, right?
My post mentioned "weight, age, etc." If you read my spoiler, you will see that I did not insinuate that T2D is only brought on by obesity. It surely can, and often is, inherited, but it is mostly mocked because it is also commonly brought about by self-indulged obesity. Enough diabetes talk, more f the Rangers talk, please.
I am well aware of the difference between type 1 & 2 diabetes. My wife went to med school and I have family members that are diabetic. I am not sure why you found it necessary to discuss the differences as it is obvious if Gomez were to become diabetic in the future it would be type 2. As far as you finding it ****** up... That is the point... There is a reason I didn't say I hope Gomez gets the common cold... I wanted something ****** up to happen to him. You can choose to get offended over a flippant comment about a crappy baseball player because it relates to you; or you can choose to take the comment in the context it was given.
I live in Chicago and I have yet to find one... then again most Cubs fans in Chicago were White Sox fans a decade ago. I guess the Blackhawks glow has worn off and the McCity has moved on to the Cubs until the Bears (the real #1 franchise in Chicago) get started.
Honestly off the top of my head... I only know a few. Hillary Clinton Vince Vaughn Pat Sajak John Cusack Nick Offerman Those are all I can remember. The irony of you calling someone worthless. Haha.
Lots of douche bags mostly.... The guy with the lisp from Rage... The bald idiot from Smashing Pumpkins... John Cusak now claims he is a Cubs fan after wearing a White Sox hat for years... Fat actor Vince Vaughn. The closest to cool is Bob Newhart.
Hillary Clinton - huh? Vince Vaughn - joke Pat Sajak - gotta be kidding John Cusack - solid Nick Offerman - awesomeness personified 2 for 5 ain't bad.
Well I guess I am living in the right city then.... No wonder everyone in Chicago tries to draw me back in. I always thought it was because anyone with a graduate degree or money has fled Illinois for the last decade.
