Albert Abreu made his Lancaster debut tonight and got the win: 3 IP, H, BB, 3 K

He ended up 4-4 on the night, he's quickly becoming a prospect to keep an eye on..

Hopefully he becomes what we thought we had with Max Stassi. A nice offensive catcher.

This joke is only funny when that player has made it lol.

But, in all seriousness, it would be his size why he doesn't make it. He's listed at 5'10 175. That is really undersized for a catcher. But man, can he HIT. Maybe he can play some DH.

Interesting that his offense has improved since jumping to AA. 4HRs in AA doubles what he did in college and A ball combined, and is only 2 short of what he did in Lancaster.

Prior to this sudden surge in AA, he hasn't really shown the ability to hit (just great K:BB, which is what most of our minor league catchers have done). He looked sort of like Brad Ausmus

I'm actually higher in Stubbs than Rogers or the catcher Astros drafted out of Oklahoma last year.

To be far, Rogers is a set it and forget it prospect. Either his bat jumps 2 grades or he's glove-only backup. He's never going to be a sexy hitting prospect.

He went 3-4 with a triple and a double (a walk too) to raise his average to .333
Gotta love small sample sizes lol

Don't know when it happened but Brady Rodgers took over the ERA leaderboard in the PCL. He'd been #2 for most of the season. In fact three of the top four are Grizzlies.

He's on pace to be PCL pitcher of the year. Not a huge accomplishment considering the other 3 Astros PCL POTY winners were Bud Norris ('09), Jason Hirsh ('06), and Jeriome Robertson ('02) but certainly a feather in his cap.

If he had a Bud Norris career, I'd be very happy with that (obviously Rodgers is a very different style of pitcher, but I'd take the results). Definitely rather avoid the careers of the other 2 (even if both had a very brief amount of moderate success).

The list of PCL POTY's isn't really encouraging. The only pitchers who made all-star teams were Felix Hernandez (in roughly half a season) and R.A. Dickey (completely different type of pitcher).

It's the best pitcher who the big league club doesn't think can help the major league club, a weird award. Top prospects don't stay long enough to merit consideration. Same reason Matt Duffy got PCL MVP last year.

Yordan Alvarez went 2-2 with a HR and 3 BBs today in the DSL. Has been raking.

    Thank you Josh Fields.

You know the fanbase has seen some hard times before when we're celebrating DSL performance of a guy traded for a ML/AAAA player.

The big winner of the trade was Josh Fields himself. He went from AAA to the bullpen of a playoff team.

Kyle Tucker is starting to get HOT. Last two games he is 5 for 9. I love to watch him bat, beautiful swing. Can't wait to see what he does next year when the should come consistently. Ted Williams 2.0

Part of me hopes they don't trade him, the other part of me thinks he is the centerpiece for an ace.

May not be much longer before he finds himself in AAA again.
