Surprised there isn't a thread for this already, unless I missed it.

He led the trooper for 7 miles before pulling over at his home. He didn't seem to be aware of the trooper (poor driving skills) and it's understandable that the trooper is on edge after being led to a location for miles. Apparently the chase ended in a collision between the two.

We need more footage and evidence to really understand what happened.

I would like to think a deaf driver would rely heavily on their vision and notice flashing lights. But I guess we will see camera footage soon enough.

    this

The media conveniently leaves out the part about how far he chased him.

    In America. . . . Frustrating a cop . . . is reason enough to be killed.

Them having to their time 'wasted' by having to deal with him through so long a chase means they have the right to kill him

Whether he was dangerous or not . . . he did the cardinal sin of simply annoying a cop

Each year there is around 27,000,000,000 traffic stops by police officers and an average of 1,100 people shot and killed by officers. The 1,100 includes armed people and clear cut justifiable shootings.

Clearly the reality isn't that "wasting" an officer's time results in death.

Police/citizen relations can always improve; but the idea that if you are stopped by a police officer; you will be gunned down isn't remotely accurate based on the raw numbers.

The actual reality is that many police are out of control and they're not being held accountable.

????? By those numbers, you are saying the average American (including children and those without a car) get pulled over an average of 70 times year.

This country would not get anything done if we all got pulled over one in every 5 days.

That was appalling. But semi good news is that cop was fired and is facing involuntary manslaughter charges. What he did was more in line of murder, but at least he's facing charges.

The only reason he's facing any charges is because the guy died. They weren't going to charge him with a damn thing for shooting that guy. He just casually walked up and shot him then pretended like nothing happened. Now he might get five years? It's repulsive, absurd, disgusting.

It is. There's no justification for the cop shooting the drunk driver, and doing it so casually. The police union probably got in the way of charging him initially, too.

As for this case, we still need more information before casting judgment in this encounter.

No he is not. The shooting victim is facing involuntary manslaughter charges - his wife died in the wreck. Still, that looked pretty damn cold blooded of the cop.
