Is it a big deal on its own? No. Problem is it happens all the f'ing time. To not notice McCutchen is turned around is pretty bad. To not realize Jake Marisnick swung is bad. It tells me he isn't just fooled, but turning away from plays despite being the PBP guy. Ford got fooled by McCutchen, but feels so much better, albeit radio guys do tend to be better than TV guys (probably because they have to be). If there is one thing to give Ashby a break on, it is that lots of teams have terrible TV guys.
i'll take ashby and blum over mopey ass jim deshais any day. i didn't at first but blummer has grown on me. he ok. i could do with or without ashby though, doesn't move the meter much for me either way. anything is better than ol' kermit the frog announcer guy on the radio broadcast. i can't listen to him call a play without picturing a damn green muppet.

I want Blum to be the Color Guy and them to find an heir to Bill Brown. Ashby seems like a good guy, and I love former players being involved with the organization, but I'd like his role to outside the booth.
Kind of like Correa last year, that is good, but I know he is capable of more. I expect his walk rate to go up, and K rate to go down.
If they win the division and dont get the the WS, they will be disappointed. But if they fail to win the division, and go on to lose (assuming they would get a WC), it would be an epic collapse.
Kind of disappointed if he is moved off 3B long-term. He has been a superstar defensively and the stats have backed it up (6 DRS in only 25 games).
I can't say for sure, but this may be the most disagreed with comment in the history of clutchfans. JD is an awesome color man, and far from mopey. Get the feeling you didn't actually listen to him too much. Meanwhile Ashby is terrible, absolutely terrible. Being lukewarm on him probably makes you his biggest fan here. In a city that has Clyde doing games, he's still manages to be the worst in town. Blum has gotten really good, wish he did every game.
Spoiler Really...that to the whole post. The current radio team is light years better than the previous teams. Milo had been horrible for years (for reference, check his call when the Astros clinched the NL pennant for the first time ever...and that's if he even called a play as it was happening). The 2 guys that replaced him were just awful. They both sounded exactly alike, both were play-by-play guys and had little to nothing to offer in terms of experience on the color side of the booth. The current guys are very good, in my estimation and in comparison to the last 20 years or so. I've never understood the adulation for Milo. And Ashby over Deshaies?
I'm thinking more about next year. I think Gurriel will play the field then, and I'd rather it be him in LF than Bregman.
Maybe as analysts... but Ashby has to be the worst possible option for somebody who's doing as much PBP as he is.
really it's blum > deshais. i don't get the ashby pile on mentality right now, he's not real entertaining but there ARE worse around. And yeah, y'all can throw Deshais all the parades you want...it was hard enough to watch the stros for a while and adding in his strong sad act was unbearable. and give me a break on kermit the radio guy. idk how you can be this far into a broadcast career and nobody ever noticed you sound like a freaking muppet. i'd take senile, schtick, decrepit milo all day every day before i listen to that.
