I wouldn't mind seeing Yi on the Lakers, maybe D'Angelo Russell will secretly record Yi making jumpers on his phone
Who remembers this commercial? They had some dude do the J-Will elbow pass... lol smh <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ymoe2oalCvk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
The structure of his contract seems way more interesting than his game. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Unofficially but if my Yi incentive date is correct, he could be dealt at deadline as an $8 mil contract, cut by incoming team at $804k</p>— Eric Pincus (@EricPincus) <a href="https://twitter.com/EricPincus/status/768255453809614850">August 24, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Lakers will certainly try to foster an environment where Yi can flourish on court, but they appear, unofficially, to have a trade chip too</p>— Eric Pincus (@EricPincus) <a href="https://twitter.com/EricPincus/status/768257286301028352">August 24, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Calling BimaThug...
Sure let us throw in all Asian players, regardless if they are Asian based or US based. Talking about supreme pigeon holing and prejudice.
I said it couldnt be for the vet min as reported because you can't add incentives on to a minimum contract. His cap hit is for 8M but only 250K is guaranteed, my guess is those incentives are time based and not performance based. He'll get 250K if he gets cut before the season begins and periodic guarantees until Jan when his contract becomes fully guaranteed. He'll be like Pap of the Rockets at the trade deadline where they can use him as an 8M trade chip.
Yi is in his late 20s/early 30s and in his prime. Qi is young and just starting out his career. Hopefully Qi reaches a higher level.
6701 per day until 1/10/17, at which point the contract is guaranteed at 8 mil. So he just need to stay with the team for two month. http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/08/23/lakers-contract-to-pay-yi-jianlian-between-250000-and-8-million-next-season/
Training camp starts late Sept. That's more than 3 months till 1/10/17. You can bet he will play a lot during preseason...
I do not think preseason matter that much, they are going to use the first two months to find out if he fits the team. It is not like they are fighting for a playoff spot, so he should get plenty of minutes the first two months.
just saying Qi sucks more than Yi did at the same age. Qi hasn't shown crap.. Yi was a top 10 pick. Qi is a late 2nd rounder. Odds are he is going to be crap.
There is a reason he was out of NBA for years. His basketball IQ is the main problem. He is definitely not a team player, thats why Yi's stats was good during the Olympics but his team is at the last place. And this is the main difference between him and Yao. Those stats during this Olympics means nothing. You put Terrence Jones on that Chinese team, he will put a James Harden's stats for you. BTW, that 43.9% FG is pretty bad for a big man
Porzingis shot 42% from the floor in his rookie season, I don't see anyone saying he sucks.Yi is 4 years removed from being in the NBA so you have to acknowledge the possibility he improved. Beasley was the foreign MVP of the CBA and he's helped the Rockets so Yi as the dominant Chinese player in the CBA may help the Lakers.
