Yeah, so, I don't care what anyone says. John Cena is an amazing professional wrestler and right there in the conversation for greatest of all time. Yes AJ still had to carry a lot of it. But who cares? Cena's presence alone is so impactful. That was a match of a lifetime type of match right there. Cena putting over Styles in a match like that is amazing. Get away from the technical aspect for a minute. It was really fun watching that. Also, Mauro's commentary was really fit for a match like that. Good stuff all around.
Completely agree with this! Also I was scared watching that Charlotte/Sasha match. Man so many dangerous spots and the one big botch. Great match though!
They removed her from the tv schedule or some **** like that. SummerSlam. That's an interesting way to close out the show.
I think he accidentally caught Orton with an elbow for real and gave him a concussion or some ****. That blood looked very real and not blading or blood bag. That ending had to be improvised after that happened. Can't see why they'd go with that otherwise. Edit: just saw images of Orton. Yeah. As I thought. Brock legit cut him open. That's pretty lame. Honestly Brock is a bit unsafe at this point.
Yeah there is no way that was the planned finish. A lot of great matches tonight, Women's Championship, AJ/Cena and Finn/Seth were all great.
I think that was the planned finish or close to it. Blood or not, it was gonna end with Brock beating the protected RKO. He's booked too strong, and how many of his match finishes since Mania 2015 have been good, or even conclusive.
As good as Mauro was, Otunga is tossing in comments so robotically and generic it reminds me of PS1 Smackdown.
Brock's not a good wrestler. Ambrose was on a podcast talking about their match at Wrestlemania. Dean had a bunch of ideas for the match, but Lesnar showed up the day of and didn't want to hear any of it. He did what he always does, suplex after suplex, F5 and that's it. That's why that match sucked. That's why tonight's match was boring too. Rolliins/Balor should've been the final match tonight. Even if Randy didn't get legit hurt, it still probably would've been the worst match of the night. Brock ****ed up tonight.
Actually SummerSlam kinda just sucked overall after the Cena/AJ match. Rollins and Balor was severely underwhelming for the caliber and talent that those two possess. Rollins/Balor/AJ/Nakamura are the 4 best actual wrestlers right now. There's no reason a match between any of those 4 should be anything less than spectacular. There was just little emotion in that match and was pretty meh all things given. I'm also not a fan of them putting Balor over right now. They should have let him lose clean to Rollins without using his Demon persona and then let him defeat Rollins as the Demon at the next PPV. Would have made more sense. Ambrose and Ziggler was whatever. Ambrose matches are usually not that exciting and very different stylistically from the majority of the "top" guys at the moment. I love Ambrose for his mic work, but he needs to turn heel at this point. He's become stagnant since winning the championship. The card was stacked but the booking was planned weirdly. Should have been AJ and Cena to end the show. Or at least Rollins and Balor. But everything is easier said in retrospect. Anyway, I'm pretty bored of Brock's routine. The guy is an amazing wrestler. He is the best heavyweight by a mile that WWE has in terms of technical wrestling and variety of move set. He doesn't use any of it though. Go watch a Lesnar match from the early-mid 00's. The guy is one of the best wrestlers ever. But he doesn't use his "wrestling moves" anymore. it's not interesting to see every match of his go suplex-suplex-suplex-suplex-opponent gets random offense in- suplex-blood-suplex-f5 (possibly countered)-suplex-suplex-suplex-f5. On top of that you can just tell he wrestles so stiff and actually gives people blows from time to time. Now some of that is inevitable due to his size and strength, but he really needs to tone it down a bit. He's way too stiff.
I thought Sasha/Charlotte was excellent. That and Styles/Cena were the two best (full disclosure: I skipped most of the IC and 6 woman tag match). Rollins/Balor was pretty good but not the great match it was thought to be. Plus imo Rollins should have won. And I just have to marvel at how WWE keeps finding new ways to make Reigns unenjoyable. Make him a GD heel already and get it over with.
Summer Slam wasn't all that bad I might say but it wasn't better than Takeover that weekend that's for sure. Here are my top 5 matches of the weekend: 1. Gargano/Ciampa vs Revivals 2. Nakamura vs Samoa Joe 3. Bayley vs Asuka 4. Cena vs Aj Styles 5. Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins
