Oh, the millions of people with pre-existing conditions? Everyone except for them? How stupid a comment is that? Great. Tens of thousands of people dying without health insurance and health care costs being the number one cause of bankruptcy aren't strawmen. Bringing affordable health care to people who need it isn't a strawman. Republican inaction for decades as health insurance premiums have skyrocketed isn't a strawman. Republicans passing laws to limit legal liability in health care as a way to lower health care premiums actually is a strawman though. Get your strawmen correct.
No, I see it which is why I am calling out you and your ilk as hypocrites and a bunch of do nothing complainers. And the GOP says one thing and does the other. That's why I am pragmatic and vote for candidates and not party.
Not being a fan of doing the wrong thing isn't the same as support for nothing happening. I hope you see that....if not now, than one day. Perhaps when other ideas are being pushed that you don't agree with. i'm no fan of the GOP, they are just the better of the 2 bad parties we have to deal with. I support the GOP when they try to scale back some of the damage the Democrats do every time they take power, I don't support them when they push ridiculous "religious right" nonsense or they end up being a "Democrat light" party with irresponsible spending of their own. I support fiscal responsibility and social liberty, there's not a major party that supports both, you can't even find that many politicians that support both.
we spend far too much on people who have no shot at living. craig sager has had 3 bone marrow transplants and two stem cell treatments and months of chemotherapy at MD Anderson. He said in his speech with goofball that time is something money can't buy, I wonder how much all that treatment cost. The USA spends more on hopeless cancer patients than anyone else. Dude is 65 years old with leukemia that keeps coming back. any move to single payer will place a massive focus on these cases and people hogging resources for terminal patients will get much higher scrutiny.
They didn't disappear when the Democrats forced through Obamacare either. They just added another government program that didn't accomplish their goal while forcing people to either pay for insurance they can't afford or pay an additional tax for being too poor to afford the insurance they failed to make affordable....and forcing small businesses to choose between having full time employees or paying for healthcare insurance they can't afford. All around Obamacare was a failure....but you'll go to the grave supporting it due to your support of the president.
End of life needs to be addressed but the Christians don't like to talk about it and will cry "death panels". It wouldn't have to if we put limits on how much we spend on end of life care. If a family wants to spend all their money to keep a loved one alive then I am all for it. However, you are absolutely right that we use a lot of resources on this.
is craig sager christian? if not seems like an attack on people who have nothing to do with the problem. the doctors approving all of these treatments instead of real talk with patients. putting limits is exactly what will come with single payer. right now it is the insurance companies taking the hit. When the public system starts taking those hits attitudes will change. No one is paying out of pocket for the treatment craig sager has had dude. at least have a discussion based in reality.
Please show me where the GOP had offered healthcare solutions during the ACA process and were shot down. Once the public option was dropped.... where were all the GOP solutions that got shot down by the democratic majority? Hmmmmmmmmm? It seems most of the damage done in the 21st century has been from a Republican Administration. But I guess those weren't real Republicans. LOL..... And how's that workin' at for ya in the 21st century.
Its a strawman when it had nothing to do with my original comment, which was liberals constantly place the burden on the middle class. I am not debating pre-existing conditions. And here we go blaming Republicans for the massive failure of Obamacare. You sound like a military guy. A bad decision is better than no decision.
They were shut out of the entire process because the Democrats didn't need their votes. They shot down any and all input by anyone other than Democrats. The public option being dropped was a deal to get more Democrats on board, not to appease Republicans. It's way too soon to try and re-write history.
You still haven't provided evidence that Obamacare has failed for the middle class. You should read this an educate yourself a bit: https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2014-12-02/obamacare-isnt-driving-up-health-costs-really The problem is the cost of drugs and how pharma companies are making crazy profits at the expense of consumers. If you want to fix rising costs just limit the patents on drugs to 7 years if their cost is above a certain threshold.
IDK? You think it's the doctors and not the patients' family trying to keep them alive? Christians do have very strong opinions regarding end of life care if you were ignorant about that. Who do you think came up with "Death Panels" notion? I am confused. Are you for or against tax payers spending on hopeless cancer patients and other terminally ill folks? Which is why I said.... What's the issue?
I completely agree with this. People often choose treatments that extend their life by a few months, living a miserable hell the entire time. I believe much of this is driven by the pharmaceutical industry. Doctors are terrified of making the wrong call, so they often go with the safe call. While I am not a big proponent of tort reform, I would like to see doctors stop being afraid of being sued out of practice.
LOL.... So they weren't allowed at the table at all.....? They couldn't put up on alternative plan to show they weren't incompetent? Come on.... Prove it. LOL... So I am supposed to believe the Republicans had no choice but to do ABSOLUTELY nothing.... LOL I got some magic beans I am trying to sell... You interested?
jesus christ dude. your formatting is cancer. The patients families are not experts nor are they in charge of treatments and allocation of resources. you putting the responsibility on them is almost as r****ded as putting it on christians. anyone praying for single payer better realize the cultural phenomenon of calling people like craig sager a hero and the blowback.
Yeah, that's EXACTLY what happened. There was one Republican that was allowed at the table, but was ignored any time they said anything so eventually they left. Everyone else was shut out. It was a "get on board or go away" type situation. A scenario that was very common during Obama's time in office. I get WHY you are trying to spin things now, I just don't know why you'd think it would work. We're not very far removed from the actual events.
Well I actually address all the points and this is the best way to do so. First of all it depends on how the patient's will is set up, which a lot of Americans don't have set up. Healthcare providers are obligated to do what they can when they aren't ordered to not resuscitate or keep on life support. You don't have to be an expert, it's just that emotion, unsurprisingly, is a bigger factor than facts. I am sorry if Christians are a large demographic with a lot of clout. Because it's impossible to put limits on end of life care?
completely false. approving more chemo, transplants and stem cell treatments has nothing to with DNR orders. I don't see how you expect people to have a discussion with you. Format and content are just low grade.
WOW..... So you are telling me that Republicans WEREN'T allowed at the table..... So did Democrats put one of those big boards through the handles of the door so they couldn't get through.... Walk me through this... Step by step....
Actually doctors don't do what they do out of fear of litigation. You aren't going to win a lawsuit against a doctor treating an advanced cancer patient. It's understood that they are very likely to die and radical things have to be tried. Many of the drugs used haven't even gone through complete screening from the FDA as the risks are outweighed by the potential benefits. The drugs come with blackbox warnings in many cases (that means a side effect of the drug is death). The issue is that doctors want to keep someone alive as long as possible because THAT'S THEIR JOB!!!! It's not out of fear of lawsuits. In fact, most doctors don't pay that much in malpractice insurance. The issue is cost of treatment, nothing more or less.
