He has potential to match Yao Ming point-for-point this season.

He is most physically talented Chinese player ever height, jumping ability, shooting skill, he had it all, but he was not mentally tough enough.

Glad he's getting a second chance to showcase those skills.

Supposedly the Lakers are going to play him at the 5 and head to head you could argue his skill set is better than Mozgov, wouldn't surprise me if he winds up being the starting 5 and Mozgov comes off the bench.

I think this is a new Yi we're talking about. Just going off of comments made by his ex-teammate Will Bynum who said he's much better than the last time he played in the NBA. Bynum said he was a matchup nightmare in rolling to the basket. That was his problem with that inefficient 40% shooting 33% from 3, he wasn't attacking the rim enough.

Mozgov is overpaid and his job can be had if Yi can prove he can play physical and not soft like his first stint in the NBA.

sorry there isn't a new Yi that is just going to dramatically show himself in the nba. don't really mean to burst your bubble but Yi isn't even a lock to make the roster in reality. You're setting yourself a bar that's way high for him. A starting 5 in the NBA yeah no. But if you're a Yi fan for whatever reason by all means carry on.

He'll make the roster. With Kobe gone the Lakers need someone to keep the Chinese fans and China sponsorship money.

Lol some lakers fans were pissed today when they heard about Yi.

These were real lakers fans not people who like one player or race

I can't believe the hate for Yi on CF. The Lakers forum seems cool with Yi for depth at the 4 and 5. His contract isn't that 8M reported either and it's not even guaranteed so the Lakers can release him in training camp if he's a bust.

7 million in incentives over a vet min deal? That has to be the biggest incentive heavy contract in NBA history. I guess he can always bail back to the Tigers if it doesn't work out.

Of course tinman would hate Yi. Go figure.

Seemed to look fine against Team USA. I see no reason why they wouldn't sign a flyer, Lakers are going to suck anyways.

tinman just said yi jianlian sucked in the NBA. Looking at his stats it is not a wild position to take.

if you come back with some stats or information (google it) your posts might improve to the quality tinman provides.
