It has been known that Lochte is a complete airhead, should be no surprise that he thought fabricating this story was a good idea.
Is there some line of success that Brazilian athletes must cross in order to go by their first name or a nickname? Obviously the soccer players are famous for it, but all of the beach volleyball players seem to go by first names as well. Then there's Nene on the basketball team. Or does the sport in which you are competing matter? Is it more about having a catchy name?
US womens volleyball team just lost to Serbia. Looks like another Olympics where they won't be getting a gold medal.
man they were serving with a point up and choked... they built up a 3 point lead in the last set too.. They probably would have won if Akinradewo didn't go down. everyone was getting stuffed by Serbia's blockers.
Charged with what? Being a moron?? It would cost Brazil more to extradite the fool than they could get in fines and he probably would serve no jail time. The only people that would win in that situation are the lawyers. As a side story on costs of stuff like that, a coworker's husband is from Norway she is from Mexico. They traveled to visit family in Mexico last month. When they arrived at the airport customs forgot to stamp his passport. When they got ready to leave they detained him, read them the riot act about being in the country illegally and said they were going to deport him back to Norway. They came back a few hours later and said they were letting him go. They said deporting him would have cost them several thousand dollars and they did not have it in their budget to do so. The unfortunate thing is they missed flights and had spend more money on airfare to get a new flight out.
He might not serve jail time but he has to follow the same protocol his buddies are now following. If they lied to police that's a crime in Brazil. Lochte shouldn't get special privileges because he's an olympian and claims, "I made it to base, I'm safe". and cool story bro.
Doesn't look as good since they're not running in a straight line till the final stretch. Plus, swimming is technically slower... so putting the line with them doesn't really hinder the action.
Wow...is Oliver Stone going to have to make a film over this swimmer robbery stuff? I'm so confused as to what happened as this point. It's either the Brazilians trying to save face while embellishing/lying about what happened or the swimmers are involved in an elaborate cover-up story that is falling apart.
There is no either or, there's camera footage and the two other swimmers already confessing Lochte lied.
Nothing confusing. They lied. The other swimmers already snitched when they got their passports snatched. So I guess no one will call the swimmers thugs? Breaking private property, fighting a security guard and lying to police about it?

So, Lochte was part of the Olympics coverage re-affirming in last night's coverage in an off-camera interview that they were robbed and Bob Costas was relaying details from that interview. But, the change to his story was the robber didn't put the cocked pistol to his forehead but just pointed it at him...was just another lie. He lied several times basically. This guy should be banned from the US. What an idiot!
What a bunch of idiots. I wish they could just make them clean the gas stations' bathrooms in Rio for a week as punishment lmao.
The lie was worse than the actual incident from what it seems. They were much better off telling the truth. I wouldn't be surprised if all 4 get kicked off the team for lying.
well that seems fine then. A gun pointed in your groups general direction is no big deal. The fact all their money was taken at gunpoint shows they are huge liars. With a murder rate over 4 times as high as the USA I'm glad Brazil is going after this so hard. get the real criminals like ryan lochte. hopefully they try to extradite him and prosecute the others. Nothing better for a tourist town to drum up business than by showing you don't take **** from rich douchebags who visit your city and party.
It's not the lying that get's me. It's breaking property out of the country and fighting a security guard protecting said property. That's worse than lying.
