Dubai is currently being built on the backs of immigrants whose passports were stolen and forced to work as slave labor.
Yes it is very very overrated IMO, but it's certainly a better city than Houston if your only metric is consumer culture.
Vegas was built by mobsters, mormon bankers, howard hughes and corporate america. it's nothing like Dubai, except for the rich people and tall buildings. if you can't gamble and do other stuff, it's a horrible analogy http://www.thatdubaisite.com/info/dos-and-donts/ Dwight ain't coming here
That's because 50% of the population are constructing things and living in "dormitories" where you never see them. In town is just like everywhere else.
Yeah, the ones whose passports were confiscated and now are basically SLAVE labor. Well if you are talking several hundred or THOUSAND years ago, then sure, but nothing modern....or civilized. Dubia is putting lipstick on a pig, underneath it is still a pig. DD
Dubai was liiiiiiiiit!!!!!! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/oIQCl2ih9Ws" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Dubai is extremely overrated. Best thing about it is the restaurants, which are awesome. Lebanese, Turkish, Indian, Sri Lankan, Iranian, etc. It will blow up your taste buds.
Is it overrated ,based on what! to visit : sorta to work: depends to do business : excellent place. 99% of temp. Workers might feels more human in GCC than in their native countries.
People keep saying Vegas, but in my opinion it's more like Miami. Expensive, hot women, beaches. Add in the slavery and extremely materialistic and shallow people.
This is true. Every meal I ate in Dubai was incredible and tasty enough to make me forget that I was sweating like I never had in my life 24/7.
