Maybe Trump is a Russian agent. Perhaps the Russians said in the 1980's "we must create an American public figure so vile, so disgusting, and so repulsive in his rhetoric that the American people begin to question the very necessity of the First Amendment".

He, he. Due process? What due process?

Donald Trump said in an interview Thursday that he would support trying US citizens suspected of terrorism in military tribunals -- a controversial proposal that would likely be challenged as unconstitutional.

The Republican presidential nominee told the Miami Herald that he doesn't "at all" like the idea of trying terrorist suspects in the civilian court system, even though US citizens are constitutionally entitled to due process. He added that he would be "fine" with trying US citizens in military tribunals at Guantánamo Bay, the US naval base that is also home to a military prison housing captured terror suspects.
Trump addressed the Guantánamo Bay detention center, climate change and the Zika virus in a wide-ranging interview with the Miami Herald.
"Well, I know that they want to try them in our regular court systems, and I don't like that at all. I don't like that at all," he told the Herald. "I would say they could be tried (in military commissions), that would be fine."

I just got a call from the Hillary campaign asking me whether I am interested in volunteering for get out the vote efforts. I live in Los Angeles, CA. So I am kind of curious as to why they are running GOTV in what is pretty far from a swing state. The volunteer on the phone assured me that they are serious and that they are in my neighborhood. So, I said "yes," and will go to some meeting to see what is going on.

Maybe Trump is really rising and we should all **** our pants?

I am guessing it is a "take nothing for granted" move. I am also in CA and I signed up to volunteer for GOTV efforts. I also contacted like-minded friends in other states to encourage them to do the same.

You just never know what can happen between now and election day. A terrorist attack... hyped-up data dump... who knows what can happen to gin up enough fear to get Trump's die-hards out in full force. Best to just be ready and make sure people don't underestimate the crazy.

    From Politico:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/republicans-urge-rnc-cut-funds-trump-226918

More than 70 Republicans have signed an open letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus urging him to stop spending any money to help Donald Trump win in November and shift those contributions to Senate and House races.

The letter comes as a number of Republican senators and high-profile GOP national security officials have come forward saying they cannot vote for Trump.

“We believe that Donald Trump’s divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide, and only the immediate shift of all available RNC resources to vulnerable Senate and House races will prevent the GOP from drowning with a Trump-emblazoned anchor around its neck,” states a draft of the letter obtained by POLITICO. “This should not be a difficult decision, as Donald Trump’s chances of being elected president are evaporating by the day.”
    .
    .
    .
The letter ticks off a series of Trump actions that they believe have "alienated millions of voters of all parties,” including, attacking Gold Star families, positive comments about violent foreign leaders and encouraging Russia to find Clinton’s lost emails.

“Those recent outrages have built on his campaign of anger and exclusion, during which he has mocked and offended millions of voters, including the disabled, women, Muslims, immigrants, and minorities,” the letter states. “He also has shown dangerous authoritarian tendencies, including threats to ban an entire religion from entering the country, order the military to break the law by torturing prisoners, kill the families of suspected terrorists, track law-abiding Muslim citizens in databases, and use executive orders to implement other illegal and unconstitutional measures.

    -----

Looks like more Republicans are looking to cut bait on attaining the presidency and try to protect congressional power.

The Trump issue is bigger than either party. We cannot see a demagogue attain the presidential seat. This is a man who suggested a hostile foreign power attack our nation and has insinuated violent action in the case he loses the election and in the case his political opponent get the power to appoint judges. This is America. We are bigger than the divisiveness, fear, and hatred driving the Trump campaign.

What are you referring to? Can you please point to a verifiable source in which Trump suggested a hostile foreign power should attack our nation?

Looks like Trump is prepared to lose. He is far less emotionally invested in winning than most of his supporters, it seems.

When did Trump ever ask for espionage to be committed against our nation?

All kind of people. Putin, ISIS, Bogut, Foley, Mustafina. Too many to count.

He was so happy after that Orlando shooting. Openly celebrating on Twitter about how right he was. Very unpatriotic man. It is also widely known that thousands of Trump supporters were seen rooting against Aly Raisman today.

    You couldn't be more inaccurate.

The "espionage" had already taken place. He asked for the emails which had already been deleted to be located, and if stolen, released. He did not advocate or support any new or future hacking or theft.

Secondly, against the US govt? Nope. Sorry. The DNC emails did not reside on a US govt system. Neither did Hillary's emails on her private server.

But then again, if she had followed protocol and used a US govt system, then she wouldn't have been able to delete all those emails and avoid FOIA requests would she?

Trump is wreckless with his words and tries to hide behind rumor and humor. He invited Russia to "find" emails that Trump has claimed contain classified data.

It takes more effort to excuse Trump's behavior than it takes to just condemn him for his unamerican behavior. But, as you point out, his supporters will keep fighting the good fight. They should instead reject the demagogue and reform the Republican party. Fear mongering, race baiting, and hate must not be the basis of their political message to the masses.
